Babytime! Cheeky Salve Review

Fall and winter are my favorite seasons, and one of the main reasons for that is because I love colder weather. I know, I'm crazy! But I actually love the snow and cold nights, because that means being able to stay cozy inside. It also means that going outside leads to dry, cracked skin, which no one loves. The Babytime! Cheeky Salve is not only great for kids, but also for soothing dry, winter skin for adults, too!

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

As one can infer from the name, the Babytime! Cheeky Salve is perfect for soothing a baby's delicate skin. It can be used by people of all ages, though, to combat chapped lips, acne bumps, and dry skin anywhere else. It's gluten-free, made with organic ingredients, and certified cruelty-free by PETA.

This is an unscented balmy butter that's made with minimal ingredients. As you can see from the photo above, many of the ingredients are certified organic. The shea butter base definitely lends to the nice thick texture, which I love in a balm like this.

My hands get pretty dry in any weather but they really take a beating in the winter. It's not technically winter yet, but temperatures are dropping here in New York and the skin around my knuckles and cuticles is already getting quite dry. I also have this patch of dry skin/eczema on my right hand that never seems to go away. I've been using this balm the past few days on all of those areas and it just feels so good when I apply it! I instantly feel soothed and protected. It leaves behind a slightly greasy texture, for lack of a better word, but I don't want to make it seem like it's greasy in a bad way. If you've never used a heavy duty salve like this before you may not be used to it right away, but it's nothing uncomfortable. I actually prefer it, because unlike a thin lotion that just absorbs and goes away, this leaves lasting protection.

I don't have any kids but I definitely can see that this would be great for little ones with dry skin. It's great for cradle cap and is super gentle on my skin, so obviously it would be for a baby as well. A little goes a long way, too, so this tub will last you a while.
Bottom Line: I can't recommend the Babytime! Cheeky Salve enough. I love that it's cruelty-free and made with certified organic ingredients, and that it instantly soothes my dry, rough skin. It's also really affordable and great for all ages and skin types!

Book Review: Photographs From the Edge by Art Wolfe with Rob Sheppard

I love a good coffee table book. Browsing through big, beautiful photographs is really calming to me because I love immersing myself in the images. Photographs From the Edge by Art Wolfe showcases 40 years of Art's photography and includes plenty of stories behind all of the images.

*Disclaimer: This book was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review through Blogging for Books.

As soon as I saw the cover image for this book I knew I had to see more. I love nature photography, and Art Wolfe is one of the best nature photographers in the world. He's worked with National Geographic, Smithsonian, BBC Wildlife, and many more. Check out his biography page on the Random House site to learn more.

I couldn't wait to dig in to this book! It's a sturdy hardcover and would look great on any coffee table or bookshelf. The photographs are printed beautifully, but what I really like is how much background is given about each of the photos.

Some of the photographs are printed as two-page spreads, but most are layed out like the pages pictured above. As you can see, there's a full page of text where Art provides the story behind each photo. I loved reading about the places and subjects themselves. Just looking at the photos is a great experience, but knowing how each image was captured provides so much more depth. There's also a photo tip accompanying each image, which is great for any aspiring photographers.

Here's another shot of the text, to give you an idea of what you'll find inside the book. I also like that the technical specs are provided (underneath the title of the image).

The book features a total of 288 pages of photos and text, beginning with Art's work from the 1980s all the way up to 2015. Obviously all of his photos are spectacular, but it was interesting to see the progression of his style and subject matter, which he also talks about in the book's preface.
Bottom Line: Whether you're into photography as a hobby or just have an affinity for beautiful nature photos, you should definitely check out Photographs From the Edge! I loved browsing through all of the photos and learning the stories behind them made the whole experience even better.

October Play! by Sephora Review

Last month's Play! by Sephora box was a little ho-hum for me, so I was hoping October's would have something a little bit more exciting. I ended up liking this box a lot more; it had some known favorites and new things I really liked.

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love!

There probably aren't many beauty or subscription box enthusiasts out there who don't know about Play! by Sephora yet, but just in case, it's a beauty box that sends 4-5 deluxe samples for $10 per month. All of the products are available at Sephora, and each box also contains a Play! pass that entitles you to a tutorial in-store with the products and 50 bonus Beauty Insider points with any purchase. There's a waiting list to join, but it seems like they're opening spots up more and more frequently.

The little bags that hold all of the items each month always have cute designs but I have no idea what to do with them. They're nice for storage, I guess, but they're starting to add up and I don't want to throw them out. Anyone have any ideas for reusing them?

The first sample I noticed was the blinc mascara, which is one of my favorites. It's not a full-sized tube, but it's still a really good size for a sample. I was pretty excited to try everything else, too.
  • Smashbox Always on Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver's Seat - I love this shade and I really want to try it to see how the formula is, but I have so many lip products. I have this organizer that hangs on the back of my bedroom door and no joke, it's 80% full of lip products. So I'll save this for later use.
  • blinc Mascara Amplified - I've used this before and I love it because of the unique formula. It applies like any other mascara, but it dries as tubes that coat your lashes. It stays put really well and is easily removable with water (it won't budge with eye makeup remover, though).
  • Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris - I wasn't sure about this perfume because the name made me think it was going to be overly powdery or floral, but I actually am IN LOVE with it! It may be my new favorite. It's a fruity-floral fragrance with top notes of bergamot, pear, raspberry, and strawberry; middle notes of white datura, jasmine, and citrus blossom; and base notes of musk, patchouli, and ambroxan. I love the fruity top notes and the woodsy base notes mix perfectly.
  • Skin Inc. Pure Revival Peel - This is a non-abrasive peel that removes dead skin cells and gently exfoliates. I love using peels like this because I think they work a lot better than traditional scrubs. It's a gel formula that you apply to dry skin, massage in circular motions, then rinse off.
  • belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb - Moisturizers are another thing I have a lot of, so I posted this for swap. It sounds great though, it's from a South Korean brand and has Scottish botanicals to tighten and smooth skin.
  • Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil - I was really excited to try this because my hair is dry and damaged from heat styling, so I'm always looking for a good deep conditioning treatment. I've used this twice and it's just okay--you're supposed to apply to damp hair, add water to lather, leave in for two minutes, then rinse. It didn't really lather that well, but it left my hair feeling decently soft.
The Skin Inc. peel, belif cream, and Christophe Robin treatment
Bottom Line: This was a pretty good box. I really liked getting another blinc mascara, and the Yves Saint Laurent perfume is absolutely wonderful! I appreciated the variety of items and found some new favorites for sure.

CBD For Life Skincare and Pain Relief Review

I have tried a lot of skincare, both for this blog and on my own, searching for products that perfectly match my needs and  skin type. I've been using the skincare and pain relief line from CBD For Life and I think I've finally found the products for me!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

CBD For Life uses alternative, natural ingredients to create potent, soothing skincare and pain relief products. They sent me their full line of both types of products to try, and I am really impressed with the results I've seen so far.

First, let me explain what CBD is. It's a non-psychotropic cannabinoid that is found in cannabis. I know what you're thinking, these products are made from marijuana? Is that even legal? But no, there are no illegal ingredients in these products and they have nothing to do with the street drug.

CBD is the principal cannabinoid in fiber-type cannabis, which is a plant that's readily available to researches and is not the same as drug-type cannabis. Basically, have you heard of hemp products before? It's like that. There is no THC in these products.

CBD is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases, diabetes, nausea, and bowel disorders (among others). CBD For Life combines this cannabinoid with nourishing essential oils and other active ingredients to aid in reducing pain, inflammating, and stress. Their skincare line has anti-aging and rejuvenating properties.

CBD For Life kindly sent me quite a few products to try and I'm so thankful for their generosity! Their skincare line is free from GMOs, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, and artificial coloring. All of their products are cruelty-free.
  • Pure CBD Face and Body Cleanser - The antibacterial properties of this cleanser help keep pores clean and reduce the occurrence of blackheads. CBD may help treat acne due to the combined lipostatic, antiproliferative, and anti-inflammatory affects on the body. I tried this first as a body wash, and you only need a dime-sized dab to get a full, rich lather. I was a bit hesitant to try it on my face because I was afraid it would be too drying, but it's actually wonderful. It left my skin feeling smooth, fresh, and moisturized! I've been using this for about a month and my skin has never looked clearer.
  • Pure CBD Hand and Body Massage Lotion - This lotion is rich and has a very smooth texture. It's deeply hydrating with a non-greasy formula, and a little goes a long way. It has skin-soothing botanicals of aloe, arnica, and lemon peel oil to help heal dry skin. It's also rich in Vitamins A, D, and E and antioxidants that help boost elasticity. The essential fatty acid and lipid-producing effects of CBD can help skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis. I think this cream is perfect for any time of year, but especially wintertime because of all the dryness in the air.
  • Pure CBD Foot Cream - I was most excited to try this foot cream because my heels are rough and cracked (I know, gross, but it happens!). This is a really thick cream and it feels so luxurious to use! I like putting it on after a shower and then covering my feet in warm socks to really help it absorb into my skin. CBD has antibacterial properties that help kill bacteria and keep feet fungus-free. The cream is also infused with eucalyptus, peppermint oil, arnica, jojoba, and aloe vera for additional soothing and to reduce soreness and swelling.
  • Pure CBD Lip Balm - CBD oil is a natural emollient that's helpful for conditioning lips. This lip balm also contains mineral oil to help lips appear smooth and moist with a hint of shine. The balm is gel-like in consistency and makes my lips feel hydrated for long periods of time.
  • Pure CBD Eye Serum - This eye serum is great for reducing puffiness in the under eye area due to the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD. This is also rich in Vitamins A, D, and E and antioxidants to stimulate collagen production and lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also is packed with anti-aging ingredients of olive, grapeseed, and avocado oils and cucumber, aloe, and chamomile. Licorice and coffee extracts also help lighten dark spots and even out skin tone. I like the airtight pump dispenser, it makes it easy to dispense just enough eye cream and keeps the product inside fresh. It glides easily onto the delicate under eye area.
  • Pure CBD Face Cream - I love this face cream! It's so smooth and hydrating. Hemp extracts leave face looking radiant and the lipid-producing effects of CBD can help combat acne and rosacea. It also helps reduce redness, which is a benefit I've already seen with just a month's use. I've been using this at night and adding a bit of sunscreen to it during the day, and I like that it absorbs quickly into my skin and leaves it feeling smooth and hydrated.

CBD For Life also boasts an excellent line of pain relief products. I was especially thankful for these after hitting the gym and going a little extra on leg day!
  • Pure CBD For Life Rub in Original and Lemongrass - Both of these sore muscle rubs smell great, but I especially love the original formula. It's spicy and just really smells good to me. I used this on my hamstrings and thighs after the aforementioned tough workout and I could feel it immediately. It leaves that nice, warm feeling and the next morning I was a lot less sore. It works to reduce inflammation causing deep muscle pain and body aches. CBD is combined with beeswax, camphor, cajuput oil, menthol, lanolin, cassia oil, eucalyptus oil, mint oil, and love oil for rapid absorption and deep penetration.
  • 99% Pure CBD Extract Pain Relief Spray - This pain relief spray is convenient for those heard-to-reach places, like the center of my back. I used this on the center of my back/shoulder area, and I also applied it to my lower back the other night. It's easy to apply, just spray wherever you need it, and it absorbs quickly into the skin. It feels cool and refreshing upon application and leaves a little tingling sensation as it works to soothe muscle pain and aches. Camphor, menthol, and eucalyptus oil give that tingling feeling, while lidocaine (a local anesthetic) causes temporary numbness and can be used to stop itching and pain from scrapes, minor burns, and insect bites.
  • Pure CBD Oral Spray - This spray delivers a high dose of help-derived CBD into your mouth, allowing for quick absorption. You can spray 2-3 times under your tongue as needed to help reduce inflammation throughout the body. The antiemetic properties of CBD have also bee nshown to reduce nausea. CBD naturally acts on the endocannabinoid system, which is made up of receptors in the brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous sytsems, to combat anxiety and depression. I have to admit that this is the one product I have not tried, simply because I have not yet had a cause to use it. I haven't come across any nausea or anxiety, but based on the efficacy of the other products I would be willing to bet that this works just as well.
Pure CBD Face Cream
CBD For Life Rub in Lemongrass
Bottom Line: I'm very impressed by the entire CBD For Life line! I've had great results with their skincare and the pain relief products are fast-acting and worked great to relieve my sore muscles. If you're looking for a naturally-derived, cruelty-free line of effective products, I definitely recommend giving CBD For Life a try!

October WhiskerBox Review and Coupon

I am wholeheartedly, enthusiastically, and completely a cat person. I always have been. I've been looking for a cat box to share with my cat, Tully, and when WhiskerBox introduced themselves I knew I had found the one!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review. Post contains affiliate links.

WhiskerBox is a themed monthly cat box that was created based on one principle: allow cats to give back to the cat community. Their Chief Engagement Officer, Smokey, is a rescue cat and his humans, Eileen and William, wanted to launch a box that would help other cats in need.

Each box has lots of treats for cats and their humans alike, including stylish apparel, delicious treats, and other surprise specialty items. All of the items are evaluated and tested before being selected to ensure high quality and maximum fun for cats!

I loved the packaging and design of the box. The colors are bright and everything was packed neatly and securely. Each month you'll receive 4-6 premium items with a retail value of $65+ for $39.95 per box. Shipping is free to the U.S. and Canada.

You can also customize the box when you sign up by providing your cat's name, gender, and sizing. You can also choose to replace any edible items with non-edibles, like toys.

October's theme was, not surprisingly "Skeletons in the Closet." I love that the info card was personalized for Tully (lower right hand corner of the photo)! There were six items for her and one little treat for me, too.

  • Sweet Pickles' DESIGNS The Sweet Tooth Bow Tie ($10) - I love when cats wear bowties, it's just too freaking cute! Tully, however, doesn't wear a collar so I don't have anything to attach this to. I might pick her up a cheap collar in the future just to see if she'd be amenable to wearing it and this bowtie.
  • Cloud 9 Egg-Splosive Treat ($7) - I've seen these treats before at my local pet store and the packaging always caught my eye. Tully is picky about her treats, so I wasn't sure if she was going to like the egg flavor (she didn't). My parents' cat is not at all picky, though, so I will pass these along to them.
  • Whiskers' n Paws Birbit Toy ($7) - Tully loves anything with fur/feathers on it, so I had a feeling she would love this. As soon as I took it out of the packaging she took to throwing it around in the air and chewing on it. It was a huge hit (see video below)! Then I realized that it's made from rabbit fur--I apologized to Tully's sisfur, Beanie :(
  • Cat Couture Lion Mane Costume ($35) - I was not sure how this one was going to go down. I've never attempted to put clothes on Tully, but she's very chill so I thought she might like it. She kept it on long enough for me to take a photo, but then she started pawing at it so I took it off. I don't think she's the type of cat who likes wearing clothes, which is too bad because this is adorable!
  • Weruva Truluxe Premium Food in Steak Frites ($3) - Weruva makes awesome cat food with real ingredients. If you've never tried it before, when you open it up it really looks like it could be human food. It's very high quality and I love giving it to Tully once in a while as a treat. She devoured this.
  • For Mew Skeleton Crisp Toy ($10) - I love the design on this! Two little skeleton cats with some skeleton mice. It's made of catnip and crinkle, and crinkle toys are always a hit. Tully liked chasing this around quite a bit.
  • Candy - You can see in the photo above that this has "Human" written on it, so it's a nice little treat for me. It seems like they shouldn't have to label people candy as a for humans only, but better safe than sorry.
Tully with the For Mew toy

And here is a quick video of her playing with the Birbit toy:

Bottom Line: I loved this WhiskerBox and I think Tully did, too! All of the toys and treats were really great and well-made, and I can tell that WhiskerBox really does put a lot of thought into ensuring that all of the items are excellent quality.

October Beauty Box 5 Review

The Beauty Box 5 for October featured products for a Girl Boss. There four full-sized items this month (five total, hence the name), with some familiar brands and new favorites for me!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Beauty Box 5 costs $12 per month and shipping is free to U.S. addresses ($3 to Canada). Each box has five deluxe samples and full-sized items ranging from skincare to makeup to haircare, and more!

I really liked the variety in this month's box. I like a good mix of fun and practical, and this theme definitely delivered on that. Here's what was inside:
  • Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil ($18, full-sized) - I've used this Chella pencil before and I love it for lining the inner corners of my eyes. You can use it wherever you please, but the info card also suggest using it to line your waterline and accentuate your cupid's bow.
  • Colour Me Fragrances in Femme Red (price unknown) - This is a small sample vial, but a full-sized bottle retails for $10. The other possible option was Femme Gold, which has notes of fruit and citrus. I got Femme Red, which is floral and spicy. I'm on the fence with this one--I like it, but it's strong. It's definitely a "night" scent.
  • Emery + Ivory Custom Nail Appliques ($12.99, full-sized) - I love getting nail appliques and the design I got is just my style (see photo below).
  • Real Her Moisturizing Lipstick in I Love Myself ($18, full-sized) - I have so many lip products, so I didn't open this right away, but the shade is a nice nude. The formula is a mix of gloss and matte that leaves lips moisturized and pigmented.
  • Amlactin ULTRA Hydrating Body Cream ($2.99, full-sized) - This is a nice little travel-sized body cream. The Amlactin brand is great for me, especially during winter, because my skin gets really dry. This is specially formulated to combat Keratosis Pilaris, a condition that cause rough patches of skin.
Bottom Line: Almost every item in this box was full-sized, which is a great deal in my opinion. I'm really excited to try the Emery + Ivory nail appliques, and I know the Amlactin lotion will come in handy.

October The Happy Life Rocks Review and Giveaway

I have a slight obsession with bath and body products, especially bath bombs. Okay, it's more than a slight obsession. My linen closet has one shelf of actual linens, and the rest is full of lotions, body washes, and candles. I knew that The Happy Life Rocks was going to be right up my alley!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

The Happy Life Rocks is a little box of happiness that sends pampering products made with natural ingredients and essential oils, without any harsh chemicals. Each box may contain candles, wax melts, soaps, and bath bombs that were specially selected for that month.

There are three payment plans:
  • Monthly: $25 per month
  • Three Month Prepay: $75 every three months
  • Six Month Prepay: $137.50 every six months
  • 12 Month Prepay: $287.50 every 12 months
When I typed in my address (NY), a shipping charge of $8.32 was added, so I think shipping costs will depend on where you live.

The box is medium-sized and packaged with recyclable materials. I have to admit that the little flecks of yellow paper kind of got all over, even when I was trying to be careful while unpacking it, but they did help protect the items and are easy to recycle. I always appreciate when boxes use recyclable packaging.

There was also a card with the following quotation on one side:
Don't let anyone rob you of your imagination, your creativity, or your curiosity. It's your place in the world; it's your life. Go on and do all you can with it, and make it the life you want to live. - Mae Jemison

I was so giddy when I was opening this box because I loved every item! I really was making "ooh!" and "ahh!" sounds as I went through everything! There were five items total with a good variety of scents.

  • Candle in Morning Mimosas - This smells so good! It's has sweet and juicy notes of orange and will be nice to burn during the winter to remind me of summer. There is no size listed on the jar, but my best estimate is that it's about 2 ounces.
  • Fizzy Bath Bomb in Bed of Roses - I love bath bombs so much, but unfortunately flowery scents (especially rose) make me sneeze like crazy. I wouldn't go so far to say as I'm allergic but I usually can't use them. It's too bad, because this bath bomb is really pretty. You can't tell from the photo above (my fault), but there are rose petals within it.
  • Scented Wax Melts in Morning Mimosas - This is a good sized wax melt with six pieces, so it'll last a while.
  • Fresh Handmade Soap in O' Honey Child - I love handmade soaps because they're always so pretty, and this one is no exception. It's made with shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, glycerin, and cosmetic grade colorants. The fragrance is light and sweet.
  • Soap Mesh Saver Pouch - I wasn't sure what this was at first, but it has an opening in it and I think you use it to store your soap in between uses in the shower (or wherever you decide to hang it). It'll allow the soap to dry out without making a mess.
Bottom Line: I'm very happy with this box-- it had all of my favorite things: soap, a candle, wax melts, a bath bomb, and a handy accessory! I think it's a great deal and I love that everything is made with natural ingredients.
Since I can't use the bath bomb, I'd like to give it away to one of my readers. Enter using the Rafflecopter below. This sweepstakes is open to residents of U.S. and Canada aged 18+ only. I will be shipping you the prize directly.

BriAA Skincare Review

I had just run out of cleanser when I got the chance to try some products from BriAA Skincare. Their line merges cutting-edge science with the simplicity of nature to create products that help keep skin looking its best!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

I received the GENESIS Hydrating Cleasing Gel and Ready Reviving Polishing Mask to try, along with smaller foil packets of some of the other BriAA products. I love their bright red and gold packaging!

Before I get more into the specific products, here's more background on BriAA as a whole. They're based in Israel and their patent-pending Holy Land Phyto-Active Synergy Complex (HL-PAS Complex) is the backbone of their line. It's an optimized blend of phyto-active (plant-based) ingredients that help renew and restore your skin. All of their products are also cruelty-free. It's never too early to start using anti-aging products, and they have everything from eye serums, masks, and day and night creams for a complete skincare routine.

I really like the GENESIS Pure Hydration Cleansing Gel! I noticed a reduction in redness, which is one of my biggest complaints, after using it for only a week. To me it felt like a mix between a cleanser and a face oil, but it was very light. There wasn't a big lather, but it still removed my makeup well and left my skin feeling totally cleansed. Daily use promotes cell regeneration and it also prepares your skin for more intensive treatments, such as a mask.

The Ready Deep Revitalizing Polishing Mask is the first step in BriAA's Ready, Set, Rejuvenate line. There are three steps total, and although I didn't receive full-sized versions of the other two, I was able to try the complete series using the foil packets (keep reading for more on that).

Although this is an exfoliating mask, it's pretty gentle without losing efficacy. The exfoliating beads are soft and did a good job of leaving my skin feeling polished and fresh after use. It's meant to be used once a week with the other products in the set.

The foil packets contained, as previously mentioned, the full Ready, Set, Rejuvenate line, the Renaissance AM and PM Age Defying Creams, and the Illumination Eye Serum.

I enjoyed pampering myself with the Ready, Set, Rejuvenate products. You start with the gel cleanser, then move on to three different masks. The Reviving Polishing Masks exfoliates, and then the Preparatory Thermal Mask and Invigorating Lifting Mask work to strengthen the skin's elasticity and resilience. After washing off the polishing mask the instructions said to apply the thermal mask and the lifting mask right after each other, so that you had both masks on your face at the same time. The lifting mask left a nice warming sensation that subsided after a minute or two, so I think it would be safe to use on sensitive skin. If you have really sensitive skin you might want to test this out on just a small patch of skin before applying it to your entire face.
Bottom Line: Overall the BriAA Skincare products have given me positive results after only a few weeks of use, and I'm excited to keep using them! I was happy to see that they reduced redness and left my skin feeling really great.

October BookCase.Club Review and Coupon

Back in elementary school one of my favorite times (okay, my absolute favorite time!) was the Scholastic Book Fair. I have always loved books and still can't get enough of them. BookCase.Club is a fantastic book subscription that brings me that new book excitement that I used to have as a kid during book fair time!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review. Post contains affiliate links.

NOTE: The Tsum Tsums in these photos did not come with the box, but I added them as fun props.

BookCase.Club sends a curated book case to you every month for only $9.99! Their standard case comes with two books for that price, and shipping is $5. Two brand new books for only $14.99?! That's an excellent price, in my opinion.

There are eight different themes to choose from, all of which come with two novels, except for the Read to Me and Quarterly Cookbooks cases:
  • Thrill Seeker - mystery/thriller
  • Strange Worlds - sci-fi/fantasy
  • Read to Me - children's picture books (4 total)
  • Blind Date - paranormal romance
  • Booking for Love - romance
  • Quarterly Cookbooks - two cookbooks every three months

You can subscribe month-to-month for $9.99, as previously mentioned, or $28 for three months, $54 for six months, and $100 for 12 months.

I reviewed the Thrill Seeker case back in June of last year (you can read that review here), so this time I wanted to try the Strange Worlds Case. I've really been into science fiction and dystopian worlds lately, so I knew this case would be perfectly suited for me.

The books I received are The Ghost in the Electric Blue Suit by Graham Joyce (hardcover) and Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher (paperback). I don't have a preference for hardcover versus paperback, so receiving one of each is fine by me.

Here's a blurb of The Ghost in the Electric Blue Suit from Amazon:
Against the wishes of his family, David, a college student, takes a summer job at a run-down family resort in a dying English town. It was at this very resort that David's biological father died fifteen years earlier. But something undeniable has called David there, a deeper otherworldliness that lies beneath the surface of what we see. And as David joins an eclectic group of staffers, strange occurrences take hold, including the vision of a lonely, blue-suited man wandering the town.
And for Beyond Redemption:
Violent and dark, the world is filled with the Geisteskranken--men and women whose delusions manifest, twisting reality. High Priest Konig seeks to create order from chaos. He defines the beliefs of his followers, leading their faith to one end: a young boy, Morgen, must Ascend to become a god. A god they can control.

But there are many who would see this would-be-god in their thrall, including the High Priest's own Doppels, and a Slaver no one can resist. Three reprobates--The Greatest Swordsman in the World, a murderous Kleptic, and possibly the only sane man left--have their own nefarious plans for the young god.

As these forces converge on the boy, there's one more obstacle: time is running out. When one's delusions become more powerful, they become harder to control. The fate of the Geisteskranken is to inevitably find oneself in the Afterdeath. The question, then, is: Who will rule there?
I think both books sound really interesting. Beyond Redemption definitely is more out-there, based on the blurb, but I can't wait to dig in to both!
Bottom Line: If you love books I highly encourage you to try BookCase.Club! They're a really affordable book subscription and they have plenty of themes to choose from, so you'll definitely find something to suit your fancy.

Introducing: Pura Vida Bracelets

You may have already heard of Pura Vida Bracelets, but if you haven't yet, I'm excited to introduce you to them! I love their affordable, stylish bracelets and I think you will, too.

Pura Vida Bracelets Monthly Club

I have always been fascinated by Costa Rica and it's one of my top dream travel destinations. "Pura Vida" means pure life in Spanish and is a philosophy in Costa Rica that encourages appreciating life's simple treasures. Pura Vida Bracelet's founders, Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman, embraced this philosophy on a college graduation trip to Costa Rica and beautifully represent it with their bracelets.

Pura Vida has tons of gorgeous, simple bracelets in plenty of different colors and styles. I love their understated design and I want to buy them all! I'm not just saying that because I'm in their affiliate program, I joined because I truly love these bracelets and I believe in promoting them! One of my favorites is the Rose Gold Crystal Flat Bar in Vanilla:

You can purchase any of the bracelets individually, but they also have a Pura Vida Monthly Club subscription! For only $14,95 per month you'll receive three hand-picked bracelets (up to $50 value) with free shipping to U.S. addresses. This is a crazy good deal, considering many of the bracelets on the site retail for more than $14.95! And no, you won't receive lower quality stock--all of the bracelets are chosen by Pura Vida's team of Instagram influencers and fashion stylists, so you'll definitely get something stylish!

But wait...there's more! Not only does Pura Vida have a huge selection of bracelets (did I mention they have a whole section of bracelets devoted to Charity, too?), but they also have clothing and accessories, like cute tank tops, hoodies, and pouches. They just launched their fall clothing line, too. Seriously, you have to check them out.

If you're on the fence about Pura Vida, I urge you to check out their website and browse their full stock of bracelets, clothes, and accessories. I really think you'll find something you'll like!

October Degustabox Review and Coupon

If you haven't guessed it by now, Degustabox has become one of my favorite food boxes! Each month is full of full-sized items and I love how affordable it is. October's box was excellent and I found a lot of new favorites!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review. Post contains affiliate links.

I like to think of Degustabox as my monthly grocery booster. They always send foods that I can work into my weekly meals, plus snacks for when I just feel like having a treat. Each box will have at least 10 full-sized items and costs $19.99 per month with free shipping. You can earn rewards points by reviewing the items and referring friends, and if you reach 100 points you can exchange them for a free box!

Degustabox is big. It's always packaged securely with plenty of bubble wrap to keep everything from breaking. I've never gotten a box that had a broken or leaking item.

You'll also find an informational sheet detailing all of the products, plus fun stuff like recipes and games on the other side. This month's sheet had recipes from Barilla on it.

Since I just mentioned Barilla, I'll start there:

  • Barilla Marinara Sauce ($2.39) - I think most people are familiar with Barilla's sauces, as they're readily available in most grocery stores. I really love their marinara and will definitely use this for an upcoming dinner.
  • Jones Soda in Pumpkin Pie ($1.79) - I love Jones Soda and their unique flavors, but I'm hesitant to try this. I know pumpkin/pumpkin spice is everywhere now, but I'm not so sure I want my soda to taste like it. That being said, I'll still give it a try. Maybe it'll just taste like a cream soda?
  • Numi Tea Sampler ($3.99) - Numi is one of my favorite tea brands. Their teas are high quality and delicious. The sampler contains one of each of the following: Aged Earl Grey, Rooibos Chai, Breakfast Blend, Gunpowder Green, Jasmine Green, Orange Spice, Moroccan Mint, and Chamomile Lemon. The Moroccan Mint is one of my all-time favorites.
  • Energems ($5.99) - These are little bite-sized energy supplements made from dark chocolate and caffeine. They also have vitamins B and D. The instructions say to take three of them for 133 mgs of caffeine, but so far I've just taken one at a time along with my morning coffee.
  • La Tortilla Factory Low Carb Flour Tortillas ($2.99) - These came at the perfect time because I was going to buy some for flautas. They're the first non-GMO low carb tortilla, with four grams of net carbs and three grams of protein.
  • Barilla ProteinPLUS Pasta ($2.39) - Barilla's pastas are equally good as their sauces, and this one has 17 grams of protein from all-natural, vegetarian ingredients.
  • Hometown Bagel Bagel Chips ($1.99 each) - These are exactly what they sound like: chips made out of bagels. The flavors are Garlic (red bag) and Everything (green). I used them like crackers and dipped them into a chutney. The flavor is light and they had a great crunch!
  • Palo Popcorn ($.99 each) - These were definitely my favorite item this month! The flavors were White Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Cheddar. They're non-GMO and made with pure coconut oil, and I think that's what set them over the edge for me. The flavor was so rich and the popcorn felt soft, I don't know how else to describe it, but it was like buttery smooth instead of dry and hard like some popcorn is. I definitely want to buy more of this!
  • Wasa Thins ($2.99) - These sesame and sea salt crackers are nice and light and have seven grams of whole grains and 80 calories per serving.
  • Lovely Candy Superfruit Chews ($2.49) - These candies are so good! They're non-GMO, gluten-free, kosher, and made without high fructose corn syrup or artificial ingredients. Each chew has pieces of real fruit in it, which you can clearly see when you open them. The flavors are cranberry, raspberry, and blueberry.
  • Crown Nut Sriracha Almonds ($1.99) - I'm not the hugest fan of almonds but I love sriracha, so I'm curious to try these.
Bottom Line: The October Degustabox had a total retail value of $29.99. I loved trying the Lovely Candy and Palo Popcorn, and I also appreciate the practical items like the Barilla sauce and pasta.
