Spiffy Socks are created from sustainable bamboo fibers that are odor-fighting, thermo-regulating, hypoallergenic, shock-resistant, and wrinkle-free. They offer size women's (size 5-10) and men's (size 6-12.5) starting at $11 per month for one pair of socks. You can also get three months prepay for $31, six months for $61, or 12 months for $119. Shipping is free to the U.S. for all subscription plans.

You can also buy individual pairs with a one-time purchase from their online shop for $20 per pair.

The designs are random each month (aka you can't choose which pair you receive, unless you want to make a one-time purchase from the shop), but they're always fun. The February pair had black and white smiles with a yellow background and pink border.

These socks are really comfortable. They aren't the thickest socks but they are deceivingly warm. The bamboo fibers really do a great job of keeping my feet warm and dry. I don't have a huge problem with sweating, but when I wear these with boots my feet don't overheat at all.

March 2021 Gramma in a Box Review

The March Gramma in a Box had a St. Patrick's Day theme, of course! The cookie and candy craft box is always a fun way to share delicious sweets with my family.

Gramma in a Box was created by Terry, who wanted to be able to share sweet treats with her grandchildren who had moved out of state. The subscription allows everyone to send a box to their loved ones, or complete the crafts with them if you live close to each other!

The box usually comes with enough supplies to create 15 to 20 individual treats, but this month's info card announced that, starting in April, subscribers will now receive a dozen cookies in each box!

Gramma in a Box sends all of the ingredients you need to create three projects. The only items you'll need to provide are basics like a bowl and a spoon for mixing. Here are their pricing options:

• Monthly: $22.50 per month
  
• Three Months: $67.50 every three months
• Six Months: $135 every six months
• 12 Months: $270 every 12 months

You can also purchase a single box for $25 with no subscription. You can save 10 percent on subscription plans with the auto-debit option.

Shipping is included in all price options. Boxes ship on the first of the month and cancellations must be submitted by the 25th of the month to avoid the next month's charges.   

The first project was Shamrock Pretzel Pops. To assemble them, I melted the chocolate discs in the microwave and then dipped the "U" shaped end of each pretzel into the chocolate and connected three pretzels to form a shamrock shape. I added a little extra in the center to attach the stick and chocolate candy in the middle. These are so cute and such a creative idea!

The second project, Crispy Pot 'O Gold Cups, involved mixing the remaining melted chocolate with puffed cereal and scooping it into the paper cups. I then added gold and other colored sprinkles for decoration.

The third project is always cookies, and the March cookies were St. Patrick's Day themed. As stated earlier in the post, starting in April boxes will contain even more cookies - a full dozen! The cookies are pre-baked and shrink wrapped in plastic to maintain freshness, but be sure to do your crafts within a week of receiving the box for optimal freshness.

The cookies were shaped like pots of gold, shamrocks, and leprechaun hats with yellow, white, and green icing. There were several sprinkles of different shapes and colors, too.

Bottom Line: Gramma in a Box always has fun and creative cookie and candy crafts. The projects are simple enough for kids of all ages to share with adult loved ones and are a great way to bond and show someone you care!

FaceSecret Pillowcase Review

One of my weird habits is that I hate having anyone touch my pillow. I'm very protective of it, and I don't like sleeping on other pillows when I travel. I even travel with my own pillowcase to avoid using ones from hotels and Airbnbs! The FaceSecret Pillowcase caught my interest for those reasons.

The FaceSecret pillowcase is a slip-over pillowcase that's great for travel. It comes with a sheer travel bag and is easy to fold up and fit in your suitcase. The pillowcase is available in gray cotton, white cotton, pink satin,  and gray satin.

I am reviewing the Gray Cotton standard sized pillowcase. It's made of jersey cotton and has a quarter inch woven elastic and an elastic pull-tie drawstring to keep it snugly fit to most sized pillows. I chose the cotton because I prefer the way it feels, though satin pillowcases are known for helping keep your hair smooth and skin healthy due to its delicate texture. 

Keeping a fresh, clean pillowcase of any material is great for your skin and will also help lessen allergies to dust and other things that can crop up on an old pillowcase.

I know what you may be thinking: Why not just get a regular pillowcase? I had the same thought when I heard about FaceSecret, which is another reason why I wanted to try it. The cotton is comfortable and does feel like any other cotton pillowcase, but what I like about it is the elastic. My pillowcase always slips around while I sleep, and this one stays in place due to the snug fit around the pillow. It makes sleep more comfortable to not have the pillowcase bunching up under my skin.

I also like this for travel and am excited to pack it with me when travel is safe again. It folds up neatly and the drawstring travel bag makes it easily accessible in my luggage, and I'll appreciate having the extra layer of cleanliness for a pillow that isn't mine.

Bespoke Post "Yellowstone" Review and Coupon

I only get a Bespoke Post box every once in a while when one really piques my interest, and last month I decided to choose their Yellowstone offering.

Bespoke Post is marketed as a men's lifestyle box but I think their boxes can be enjoyed by anyone. They release a new set of curated boxes each month and you can skip any month (without being charged) if you don't like any of the options.

Bespoke Post costs $45 per month. You'll receive an email at the beginning of the month with the box that Bespoke Post has chosen for you based on your interests, but you change your selection or skip within the next five days.

I chose the Yellowstone box because the national park is high on my list of places I want to visit. I prefer a selection of a few items in a box over one or two more expensive items, so the array included in this box felt like a good value to me.

The Caswell-Massey tonic was available in three scents and I chose "Old Faithful." The other options were "Mammoth" and "Canyon," and currently only "Mammoth" is still available. The tonics were created in partnership with the Yellowstone Forever nonprofit, which helps ensure the park's ecosystem stays thriving. I love the "Old Faithful" scent, it has notes of sagebrush, sweet blue lupine, earthy larkspur, and pine smoke. It starts off smoky and develops into a complex blend that works really well with my skin.

The Brass Bison Figurine is created by Ezra Arthur and is solid brass. I currently have him hanging out on my work-from-home desk.

The Yellowstone Bandana was custom-made by illustrator Nicky Ovitt for Bespoke Post. It has Yellowstone's most memorable highlights on it, including bull elk, bald eagle, Steamboat Geyser, heartleaf arnica, wavy-leaf thistle, and more.

Last up, and the main reason I picked this box, is the photography book Yellowstone: A Land of Wild and Wonder by Christopher Cauble. It's a beautiful coffee table book with photos of the iconic landscape and fauna of the national park.

February 2021 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

The February Ipsy Glam Bag was appropriately-themed for Valentine's Day with a "Sealed With a Kiss" bag. You could have also received a rose colored striped bag, but I got the red one with great samples inside!

Ipsy is probably one of the most well-known beauty subscriptions. They have three levels of bags, and this is a review for the basic Glam Bag at $12 per month.

I like that the bags are great quality and I get really great samples from this subscription, but the bags tend to pile up and I don't really use them. I end up donating them, of course, but honestly I would prefer that they shipped in a recyclable box (but then, I know, the name "Glam Bag" wouldn't make as much sense!).

Here's what I got this month:

• First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser: First Aid Beauty has solid skincare products. Nothing too fancy, but these always come in handy when I travel. Hoping to be able to travel again someday....
• Pixi Beauty Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black: I only wear black eyeliners so this was a good pick for me. The formula is waterproof and really does stay put, and the silky texture makes it glide on really smoothly.
• Ahava Dead Sea Osmoter Concentrate Supreme Hydration Cream: This supposedly shields skin from the effects of blue light, but it's hard to really tell how well it delivers on that promise. That being said, Ahava makes good skincare products so this will be another good one to use when I can travel again.
• Naked Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow in Desert Sunset #02: Unfortunately my shadow arrived broken (see photo below), but Ipsy has great customer service. I submitted a replacement request and got a response within a day saying they would send out another. I received it and it was not broken! This shade is really pretty and works well on its own or as part of a more detailed look.
• innisfree Pore Clearing Clay Mask with Super Volcanic Clusters: innisfree is one of my favorite K-beauty brands (and skincare brands in general) so I was really happy to get this sample. This mask is excellent for oily skin and is made with AHAs, finely ground walnut shell powder, and volcanic clusters from the island of Jeju (a gorgeous place -- I hope to travel there soon!).

Bottom Line: Ipsy is one of the most affordable beauty subscriptions and they do a good job of sending products that will work well for your preferences and needs. So far I've gotten a great variety of new things to try!
