December BookCase.Club Review and Coupon

The December BookCase.Club showed up at my door on the same day I finished one of the books from November's case, so it was as perfect timing as you can get! I love being surprised by what books they feature, and December's selections were great.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review. Post contains affiliate links.

BookCase.Club is an affordable book box that sends two hand-picked books from your theme of choice. They have eight themes to choose from and also have a new BookCase.Kids option:
  • Thrill Seeker - mystery/thriller
  • Strange Worlds - sci-fi/fantasy
  • Read to Me - children's picture books (4 total)
  • Blind Date - paranormal romance
  • Booking for Love - romance
  • Quarterly Cookbooks - two cookbooks every three months
The subscription options are month-to-month for $9.99, $28 for three months, $54 for six months, and $100 for 12 months. Shipping is $5.

My favorite case is the Thrill Seeker case. I've devoured every book I've gotten from BookCase.Club for this theme and December's selections were equally interesting. I'm about halfway through Mind of Winter right now and will start Rooms as soon as I finish! Here's a little bit more about each book:

Mind of Winter by Laura Kasischke:
On a snowy Christmas morning, Holly Judge awakens with the fragments of a nightmare floating on the edge of her consciousness. Something followed them from Russia. Thirteen years ago, she and her husband Eric adopted baby Tatty, their pretty, black-haired Rapunzel, from the Pokrovka Orphanage #2. Now, at fifteen, Tatiana is more beautiful than ever—and disturbingly erratic.

As a blizzard rages outside, Holly and Tatiana are alone. With each passing hour, Tatiana’s mood darkens, and her behavior becomes increasingly frightening . . . until Holly finds she no longer recognizes her daughter.
Rooms by Lauren Oliver:
Wealthy Richard Walker has just died, leaving behind his country house full of rooms packed with the detritus of a lifetime. His estranged family—bitter ex-wife Caroline, troubled teenage son Trenton, and unforgiving daughter Minna—have arrived for their inheritance.

But the Walkers are not alone. Prim Alice and the cynical Sandra, long dead former residents bound to the house, linger within its claustrophobic walls. Jostling for space, memory, and supremacy, they observe the family, trading barbs and reminiscences about their past lives. Though their voices cannot be heard, Alice and Sandra speak through the house itself—in the hiss of the radiator, a creak in the stairs, the dimming of a light bulb.

The Strange Worlds case is also a favorite of mine. The books are always, well, strange in a good way. If you're a fan of science fiction I recommend choosing this box. The books aren't all scifi every month, but I think fans of that genre would really enjoy the stories featured. Here's what was in this month's case:

Clash of Eagles by Alan Smale:
Perfect for fans of action-adventure and historical fiction—including novels by such authors as Bernard Cornwell, Steve Berry, Naomi Novik, and Harry Turtledove—this stunning work of alternate history imagines a world in which the Roman Empire has not fallen and the North American continent has just been discovered. In the year 1218 AD, transported by Norse longboats, a Roman legion crosses the great ocean, enters an endless wilderness, and faces a cataclysmic clash of worlds, cultures, and warriors.
Cusanus Game by Wolfgang Jeschke:
An atomic disaster near the French-German border has contaminated Northern Europe with radioactivity. Economic and political calamities are destroying the whole planet. Human DNA is mutating, plant species are going extinct, and scientists are feverishly working on possible solutions. It becomes increasingly apparent that the key to future salvation lies in the past. In 2052 a secret research facility in the Vatican is recruiting scientists for a mission to restore the flora of the irradiated territories. The institute claims to have time travel. When Domenica's sometime-lover tells her that he knows her future but that she must decide her own fate, she enlists despite his ambiguous warning.
Clash of Eagles is book one of a trilogy and Cusanus Game is translated from German. I think both sound fascinating!

Bottom Line: BookCase.Club has so much variety and is exceptionally priced at only $9.99 per month. I think it's a must-have box for any book lover! I'm really excited to read all four books I received in this month's cases.
