NovaFab Mini Razors Review

One of the less glamorous parts of a beauty routine is hair removal, but it's something most women do on a regular basis. I tried the new NovaFab Mini Razors and I think every woman should add them to their routine!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

The NovaFab razors were originally designed for men, but they're great for women, too. They're designed for precision trimming and can be used on difficult to shave areas, like around your knees, eyebrows, and bikini line.

The Solo Trim Shaver and Razor Comb are available in a two-pack combo or individually. The shaver worked especially well for me.

As you can see, both the shaver and the razor comb have a tiny razor inside that's protected by a plastic comb cover. I'm not ashamed to admit that I get a little peach fuzz on my upper lip from time to time, and the shaver was perfect for removing it. I prefer not to wax that area because the skin is so sensitive, and the shaver quickly and efficiently removed all traces of hair.

The razor comb is recommended for use along your eyebrows, but I'm in the process of growing mine in so I was afraid to get too close with this, even though it is easy to use and maneuver. I settled on using it on the big area under my eyebrow, away from the eye and closer to my temple. It was great at catching stray hairs and removing them.
Bottom Line: The NovaFab Mini Razors are a great tool for any guy or gal. I liked how easy they were to use and how well they removed excess hair in tricky areas. Their small sizes makes them perfect for travel and on-the-go, too!

Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo Review

My scalp is unfortunately very oily so dry shampoos are a must. I've been using the new Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo line and I'm loving every single one of them!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

There are four great varieties to choose from: Unscented, Fresh and Floral, Volume and Fullness, and Detox and Purify. The full-sized versions are 5 oz and the Volume and Fullness is available in a travel sized 1.15 oz spray.

I tested all four over the past two weeks and every single one produced great results. I figured the Detox and Purify would work best for my hair type, but I can honestly say that they all were equally fantastic!

The Volume and Fullness shampoo has a weightless formula that cleans and transforms hair from lifeless to bouncy. It absorbs oil between traditional washes. It has a slightly sweet scent that I liked quite a bit. I apply dry shampoo on fresh hair because I like the extra volume and texture it gives, plus if I apply it after my hair is too oily it doesn't do anything but clump up into residue. This gave me good volume and worked well to absorb oil throughout the day.

The Detox and Purify shampoo removes oil from roots without leaving residue for clean, purified hair. It helps control oil so you can skip a regular wash. This one has a clean scent and also left my hair feeling great throughout the day. I could run my fingers through my roots without it feeling too gross or tacky from product and oil build up.

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the Fresh and Floral shampoo because floral scents tend to make me sneeze and aren't my favorite, but the scent on this is light, fresh, and really enjoyable. It was equally potent and effective at keeping oil at bay as the other shampoos.

The Unscented shampoo is probably the most universally appropriate one for all hair types. If you're looking for an effective dry shampoo that's fragrance free, I highly suggest this one. I like the scented ones a lot, but having an unscented option is great for people with scent allergies or who just simply don't want their hair to smell like any extra fragrance.

Each of these shampoos retails for $3.99, so they're incredibly affordable. The travel sized Volume and Fullness bottle is only $1.99. I've used much more expensive dry shampoos that didn't work nearly as well as these!

Bottom Line: I loved every single one of the Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoos! The scented ones were fun and I was surprised at how much I liked the Fresh and Floral scent. All four gave me extra volume and texture and helped keep extra oiliness at bay. They're very affordable and effective, so I give them two big thumbs up!

September BookCase.Club Review and Coupon

The Thrill Seekers and Strange Worlds cases from BookCase.Club had another collection of great books! I love this subscription and it's such a treat getting new books every month.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

BookCase.Club sends two new, hand-selected books each month for $9.99 with $5 shipping. There are several themes to choose from, including a BookCase.Kids box with children's books. Here are the options:
  • Thrill Seeker - mystery/thriller
  • Strange Worlds - sci-fi/fantasy
  • Teenage Dreams - young adult novels
  • Blind Date - paranormal romance
  • Booking for Love - romance
  • Quarterly Cook Books - two cook books every three months
  • Quarterly Military History - two military history books every three months

The Thrill Seekers case has great mystery/thrillers. This month's box had two hardcover books, Sting by Sandra Brown and House of Secrets by Brad Meltzer and Tod Goldberg.

Here is the synopsis for Sting from Amazon:
When Jordie Bennet and Shaw Kinnard lock eyes across a disreputable backwater bar, something definitely sparks. Shaw gives off a dangerous vibe that makes men wary and inspires women to sit up and take notice. None feel that undercurrent more strongly than savvy businesswoman Jordie, who doesn't belong in a seedy dive on the banks of a bayou. But here she is . . . and Shaw Kinnard is here to kill her.

As Shaw and his partner take aim, Jordie is certain her time has come. But Shaw has other plans and abducts Jordie, hoping to get his hands on the $30 million her brother has stolen and, presumably, hidden. However, Shaw is not the only one looking for the fortune. Her brother's ruthless boss and the FBI are after it as well. Now on the run from the feds and a notorious criminal, Jordie and Shaw must rely on their wits-and each other-to stay alive.

Miles away from civilization and surrounded by swampland, the two play each other against their common enemies. Jordie's only chance of survival is to outwit Shaw, but it soon becomes clear to Shaw that Jordie isn't entirely trustworthy, either. Was she in on her brother's scam, or is she an innocent pawn in a deadly vendetta? And just how valuable is her life to Shaw, her remorseless and manipulative captor? Burning for answers-and for each other-this unlikely pair ultimately make a desperate move that could be their last.

Here's the synposis for The House of Secrets
When Hazel Nash was six years old, her father taught her: mysteries need to be solved. He should know. Hazel's father is Jack Nash, the host of America's favorite conspiracy TV show, The House of Secrets. Even as a child, she loved hearing her dad's tall tales, especially the one about a leather book belonging to Benedict Arnold that was hidden in a corpse. Now, years later, Hazel wakes up in the hospital and remembers nothing, not even her own name. She's told she's been in a car accident that killed her father and injured her brother. But she can't remember any of it, because of her own traumatic brain injury. Then a man from the FBI shows up, asking questions about her dad-and about his connection to the corpse of a man found with an object stuffed into his chest: a priceless book that belonged to Benedict Arnold.

Back at her house, Hazel finds guns that she doesn't remember owning. On her forehead, she sees scars from fights she can't recall. Most important, the more Hazel digs, the less she likes the person she seems to have been. Trying to put together the puzzle pieces of her past and present, Hazel Nash needs to figure out who killed this man-and how the book wound up in his chest. The answer will tell her the truth about her father, what he was really doing for the government-and who Hazel really is. Mysteries need to be solved. Especially the ones about yourself.

I didn't read the science fiction/fantasy genres much before I started receiving BookCase.Club boxes, but I'm so glad I get their Strange Worlds case because they've sent great books that have given me a great appreciation of the genre. This month's case had The Dark Side by Anthony O'Neill and Eleanor by Jason Gurley.

Here's the synopsis for Eleanor:
When a terrible accident claims the life of Eleanor’s twin, her family is left in tatters, and her reality begins to unravel, dropping her in and out of unfamiliar worlds. When she returns to her own time and place, hours and days have flown by without her. One fateful day, Eleanor leaps from a cliff...and vanishes. In a strange in-between place, she meets a mysterious stranger who understands the weight of her family history: Eleanor’s twin wasn’t the only tragic loss. And unless Eleanor can master her strange new abilities, she may not be the last.

Here's the synopsis for The Dark Side:
Purgatory is the lawless moon colony of eccentric billionaire, Fletcher Brass: a mecca for war criminals, murderers, sex fiends, and adventurous tourists. You can’t find better drugs, cheaper plastic surgery, or a more ominous travel advisory anywhere in the universe. But trouble is brewing in Brass’s black-market heaven. When an exiled cop arrives in this wild new frontier, he immediately finds himself investigating a string of ruthless assassinations in which Brass himself—and his equally ambitious daughter—are the chief suspects.

Meanwhile, two-thousand kilometers away, an amnesiac android, Leonardo Black, rampages across the lunar surface. Programmed with only the notorious “Brass Code”—a compendium of corporate laws that would make Ayn Rand blush—Black has only one goal in mind: to find Purgatory and conquer it.

Bottom Line: I'm really excited to dig in to all of these books, especially Eleanor. BookCase.Club has sent another great set of books!

Maple Holistics Peppermint Essential Oil Review

I've always enjoyed the scent of peppermint, and of course the flavor in mints or other goodies. I never knew that peppermint oil has a lot of health benefits, though, and the Maple Holistics 100% Pure Peppermint Essential Oil delivers all of them!

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Peppermint essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the peppermint bush. It's a strong antiseptic and antimicrobial agent ad can be used to treat wounds and cuts on the skin. It's also a potent pain reliever that cab treat pain superficially or internally.

One of my favorite ways to use peppermint oil is when I have a headache. I apply a drop or two onto my fingers and then massage it into my temples and it really does help soothe my headache. Peppermint oil is able to be absorbed by the skin, leaving a cooling and soothing sensation.

Peppermint oil is also great for treating skin issues like acne, rashes, and burns. The cleansing properties of the oil work to kill germs and nourish and rejuvenate skin cells. The menthol in peppermint is what creates that cooling sensation on the skin, but it also is excellent at combating acne.

You can use peppermint oil to soothe internal issues, too. Whenever I have an upset stomach or feel bloated I love a good cup of peppermint tea. Peppermint oil is safe to ingest to soothe stomach issues, or you can inhale the scent if you don't want to ingest it. It works wonders to break up my bloating and stomach aches!

The 100% Pure Peppermint Oil from Maple Holistics is made only of the essential oil, no additives or preservatives. It's steam distilled from peppermint leaves and then cold pressed into oil form. It smells just like a candy cane and is great for so many uses, as listed above! Peppermint oil is one of my favorite essential oils because it's so versatile.
Bottom Line: The Maple Holistics 100% Pure Peppermint Oil is excellent. It smells wonderful and has so many uses. I definitely recommend adding this oil to your pantry!

I really love the old school theme this month! I think PostBox contains the perfect assortment of cards and accessories. The curation also always stands out, as the back to school theme is clearly evident.

The "artsy doodad" for September is the checkerboard patterned pencil case and silver pencil. The pouch has lots of standard number two pencils and a Pink Pearl eraser in it as well.

The Library Cards by Frankie and Claude, located in Camas, Washington are so unique! They're a retro set that are perfect for note taking, list making, or whatever else you need. There's also a set of 10 envelopes lined with pages from recycled books.

  • Pink Pearl - This card is by Nicole Ray of Sloe Gin Fizz, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The card features her trademark whimsical design and sense of humor.
  • Hello - This is by Warren Tales in San Diego, California. The card also has a detachable postcard, which is a modern way to create "chain mail!" PostBox also included an extra postcard stamp for this.
  • The Original Laptop - This nostalgic letterpress card is from a. favorite design in Chicago, Illinois. This is the postcard for the month and is great for sending a quick note to a friend.
  • Computer Calendar - This card has a mini calendar on it and is by Blackbird Letterpress in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with an illustration by Rebecca Kreisler. The design is so cute and is a great birthday card for January!
The info card also contains information about a program called Letters For the Elderly, which is a wonderful organization that was founded in December of 2013 by Jacob Cramer. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that collects handwritten cards and sends them to the elderly to let them know they're loved and appreciated. I think this is an amazing program and I'm definitely going to be using my PostBox cards this month to send to Letters for the Elderly!

Arbonne Rescue and Renew Detox Mask Review

I have always had oily skin and to put it bluntly, it's super annoying. I've tried a ton of different masks and skincare treatments, and none have worked as great as the Arbonne Rescue and Renew Detox Mask!

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

This mask is made with French pink clay and utilizes oil pulling technology to visibly draw out excess sebum from your skin. It also has five self-neutralizing acids to help clarify and brighten skin. It's dermatologist tested, safe for all skin types (including sensitive), and vegan and gluten-free.

When I heard about the oil pulling technology I was instantly intrigued. I've used a mask with similar properties in the past, but the formula recently changed and it doesn't work as well so I had been looking for a replacement.

The mask has kaolin clay and bentonite clay as two of the main ingredients, both of which are excellent for oily skin. The French pink clay acts like a magnet to attract surface dirt and impurities and rosemary oil hydrates to help maintain clarity. There's also dandelion extract for detoxifying, turmeric extract to promote radiant skin, and ginger root extract to help counteract dull, lackluster skin.

The mask works like most others, apply once or twice a week to clean skin and leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse and pat dry. A slight tingling or redness may occur due to the clay, which is definitely normal for this type of mask. I didn't experience either, though.

But does it work? Yes! As you can see from my photo above, the oil pulling technology really does pull out excess sebum from your skin. Al of the little dotted areas on my nose and forehead are extra sebum that the mask extracted. I love using this mask because it's so weirdly satisfying to see the oil pulled out and washed away. This is the perfect mask and is really a treat to use once a week to help control my oily skin!
  • Visit the Arbonne website to learn more and purchase
Bottom Line: I absolutely love the Arbonne Rescue and Renew Detox Mask! I highly recommend it for oily/combo skin. It's great for all skin types, so if you're looking for a gentle and effective detox mask this one is definitely worth it!

September Daily Goodie Box Review

Daily Goodie Box always sends an interesting assortment of products each month, and the boxes are 100% free! September's box featured really great items, per usual.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

The September box featured products from nine different brands. Daily Goodie Box always sends products from brands I haven't heard of before, so it is definitely an effective way to get the word out about different items.

  • ginnybakes Chocolate Chip Cookies - These gluten-free cookies are made with high quality natural ingredients. I couldn't even tell that they were gluten-free and they tasted really good.
  • Crown Maple Sugar - This sweetener alternative has natural antioxidants and can be used in coffee, tea, baked goods, or more.
  • Paleo Powder Pink Seasoning - This blend has Himalayan pink salt with chili, garlic, and onion powders as well as cumin and black and cayenne peppers. It sounds really great and I'll probably use it as a rub for chicken.
  • Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers - I love sour candies and these are great! They're nice and soft and the perfect amount of sour.
  • Nellie's All Natural Baby Laundry Soda - This is specially formulated to clean up stubborn baby stains. The formula is derived from plant- and mineral-based ingredients and is gentle on baby's skin.
  • Guru Organic Energy Drink - This energy drink is made with non-GMO ingredients and uis USDA organic. It's also gluten-free and certified vegan.
  • Lovebug Probiotics Here's the Skinny - This supplement has a proprietary blend of probiotic strains to help streamline digestive function. They have a patented time-release technology for maximum effectiveness.
  • Rufus Teague Made Some Sauce - I got the Whiskey Maple and Honey Sweet flavors and both sound delicious. They're gluten-free and kosher.
  • Butterfields Hard Candy - I got the Honeybell flavor, which is "the sweetest orange blossom in a hard candy." I haven't tried them yet but I love candies like these!
Bottom Line: The September box from Daily Goodie Box had lots of yummy treats! I'm especially excited to try the Paleo Pink rub and the Rufus Teague sauces.

August Sports Crate Review - Chicago Cubs

The August Sports Crate was only about a week delayed, so that's an improvement! I have mixed feelings about this month's box; read on to find out why.

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love!

Sports Crate is a part of the Loot Crate family and costs $39.99 per month for 5-7 officially licensed, exclusive items valued at $80+. The current season is MLB and is available for the following teams: Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, and the Texas Rangers.

I purchased the Season Pass option for all five boxes (May through September). This option is no longer available, but for those of you who also purchased it, our extra figurine should be arriving with September's box.

Each month features a BALLERS figurine, and as you can see from the photo above this month's is missing. Sports Crate stated they listened to subscriber feedback and are retooling the figurines to look more realistic and have higher quality. I already thought they were pretty nice, but I won't say no to improvements, either. The figurines should be completed and shipped by the last week of September.

The BALLERS figurine for September is Anthony Rizzo, and I'm so excited because he's my favorite current Cub! Based on the photo in the product insert, it looks a lot like him. There's also an exclusive Topps Trading Card to go along with the figurine.

The '47 Clean Up Adjustable Hat is a soft hat with an adjustable band in the back. By soft I mean there's a cardboard insert inside of it to keep its shape, otherwise it would kind of just flop in on itself. I actually just bought a new Cubs hat, and I guess I should have waited because I should have assumed a baseball cap would be sent at some time from a baseball subscription box!

The Tervis Tumbler is my favorite item in the box, aside from the upcoming BALLERS figurine. I've been meaning to get a cup like this for a while but usually end up spending my money on Cubs t-shirts or jerseys instead, so this was a nice surprise. I really love the design, especially all of the old logos on it.
Bottom Line: This month's Sports Crate was just okay to me. The hat would have been better if I hadn't just bought one, and the box felt kind of empty without the BALLERS figurine. Basically I got a box with a hat, a cup, and a trading card. I don't mean that to sound super critical though, because I really do like the cup. I'm excited to see the BALLERS figurine once it arrives, too.

September EsianMall Snack Box Review

EsianMall offers boxes to satisfy your inner geek! They offer gamers, geeks, and anime fans the best snack and beauty products from Asia.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review. Post contains affiliate links.

EsianMall has a beauty box and a snack box; this is a review for the snack box. The boxes feature different boxes each month with bonus geeky items like apparel, figurines, and accessories.

Boxes start t $14.95 per month with free shipping to the U.S. Boxes do ship worldwide, but the free shipping option is only for U.S. addresses. When you first sign up you'll fill out a survey where you can indicate your snack preferences. You can also skip this part if you have no preferences for what your box contains.

Here are the box sizes and pricing options:
  • Mini (5-6 items): $14.95 per month, $14.45 per month for three months, or $13.95 per month for six months
  • Medium (8-10 items): $29.95 per month, $28.95 per month for three months, or $28.45 per month for six months
  • Deluxe (12-14 items with 1-2 geek merch items): $40.95 per month, 39.95 per month for three months, or $39.45 per month for six months

I received the Deluxe Snack Box to review. There were lots of fun treats inside plus one geeky item.

There was no info card included in the box so I'll do my best to name the items inside.
  • Pretz - These were basically savory Pocky. I think they were pizza flavored. They were nice and crunchy and had a good flavor.
  • Shrimp Chips - I know these are very popular, especially in the Philippines, but I am not a fan of seafood so I'll pass these along to someone else.
  • Oreo Soft Cookie - I haven't tried this yet but I think the name is pretty self-explanatory.
  • Nongshim Chapagetti - I really like Nongshim's soups but this one didn't quite do it for me. It didn't have enough flavor. I added some seasonings to it but it still was a little bit flat.
The other three snacks do not have English labels so I'm not 100% sure what they are. The package on the bottom has crackers/cookies in it, and the red package is a small, hard biscuit. My best guess for the top right is that it's maybe a seaweed or seasoning packet?

  • Oreo Soft Cookie - I guess I forgot I took a picture of these in the first photo, but the box contained two of these.
  • Senbei - I'm pretty sure the crackers on the left are senbei, or rice crakers.
  • Shittori Cookie - The two packages in blue were soft little cookies with small chocolate chips.
  • Lotte - The small pink package is a chewy candy with fruit flavor.
  • Red package - Again, these were in the photo above and I'm not quite sure what they are called.
  • Harley Quinn Umbrella - The geeky item this month is a Harley Quinn umbrella. I'm not a huge fan of the character but I know she's really popular among the DC/Batman fandom, so I'm sure this will be a fun item for a lot of subscribers.

Here's a better look at the umbrella.
Bottom Line: The EsianMall snack box had a lot of fun snacks to try; I just wish they included an info card describing everything. The geek item was also nice and unique. I think combining snacks with geek/gamer items is an interesting theme for a subscription box.

September Degustabox Review and Coupon

Degustabox is one of the best snack boxes out there; each month they're packed with full-sized foods and pantry items for a great price!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Degustabox sends at least 10 full-sized food items for only $19.99 per month! You'll get a box full of snacks for much cheaper than if you were to buy everything individually at the grocery store.

The September box had 10 items representing a good variety of foods and snacks. Degustabox always does a good job of sending everything from baking mixes, dinner sides, sauces, and more!

  • Post Shredded Wheat ($3.49) - Boxes contained one of two flavors, and I got Frosted Mixed Berry (the other option was cinnamon). It has a blueberry frosting coating with an extra burst of berry flavor in the middle. Sounds delish!
  • King Arthur Flour Lemon Bar Mix ($4.95) - I love a good lemon bar but I've never made them before. This mix looks easy to bake and I can't wait to try them. They're made with real lemons and no artificial ingredients.
  • SunRype Fruit to Go ($.50 each) - These bars were so good! I got the Apple Wildberry and Apple Strawberry Watermelon flavors. They are strips of fruit leather with no added artificial colors, preservatives, gluten, or nuts. They're also kosher and vegan.
  • Angelic Bakehouse Bread Crisps ($4.00) - These little sprouted crackers are crostini shaped and made from sprouted bread grain, toasted, and topped with sea salt. I'll have to get some good cheese to eat these with.
  • Mutti Tomato Puree ($4.49) - This puree is ready to go, all you have to do is heat it up. The info page listing all the items had a recipe for tomato basil soup on the back using this sauce so I think I'm going to give that a try.
  • Wild Planet Albacore Wild Tuna ($4.99) - Wild Planet is ranked #1 by Greenpeace for sustainability. This tuna is 100% pole and line caught and is prepared to maintain all the natural juices right in the can (no draining required!). I don't eat tuna but I'll pass this along to someone who does.
  • Goya Rice Pilaf ($1.99) - I loved rice pilaf growing up, and still do, so this will be great as a side for an upcoming dinner. Goya mixes are always good and have lots of flavor.
  • Lee Kum Kee Korean BBQ Stir Fry Sauce ($3.49) - I love sauce packets like this that I can throw into the slow cooker. This can be prepared without a slow cooker, but I like letting the sauces simmer with the meat all day.
  • Reese Papaya Goldenberry Quinoa Medley ($3.99) - I have to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of quinoa so I'm not sure how much I will like this. I do like the sound of papaya goldenberry fruit though, so maybe it will be a hit!
  • Natural Sins Coconut Crisps ($1.99) - These are meant to be eaten as snack chips and the brand calls them "un-potato chip" snacks. I'm curious to try these.
Bottom Line: The September Degustabox had a total retail value of $34.38. I'm excited to bake up the King Arthur Flour lemon bars and use the Lee Kum Kee Korean BBQ sauce. This month's box had another great variety of snacks!
