Have you ever heard of the Double Cleanse system? I hadn't until I tried the Dermalogica Precleanse Wipes and Precleanse Oil. Their Double Cleanse system consists of washing your skin twice in the morning and twice at night. The idea was entirely new to me, but I was definitely intrigued.
*Disclaimer: These products were provided for review through iFabbo.
I've used both cleansing wipes and cleansing oil before, but never ones from Dermalogica. I was familiar with the company prior to this review, though, as I've used their Microfoliant scrub. But back to the Precleanse routine--these products are meant to be used before you use a cleanser, hence the name.
I have oily skin that is also sensitive, so while I look for products that will banish excessive sebum, I also need them to be gentle, especially if I'm going to be doing a "double cleanse." The Precleanse Wipes are biodegradable and "melt away layers of excess sebum, sunscreen, waterproof make-up, pollutants and products." They're designed to be used in conjunction with a Dermalogica cleanser, which can now penetrate the skin even further thanks to the wipes. The wipes are formulated with aloe and apricot oils to soften the skin, along with rice bran and vitamin E for conditioning. I used them to remove my makeup after coming home from work and they did a great job of taking most of it off. They also left my skin feeling fresh and soft, almost as if I had applied a light layer of moisturizer.
The Precleanse Oil-Busting Emulsifyer (that is how Dermalogica spells it) works the same way as the wipes: it helps to melt impurities and makeup away from the skin. It's even gentle enough to be used around the eye area. To use, you simply dispense some into your hands and apply it to dry skin. I massaged it in for a few seconds, then added some warm water to my face to create a light emulsion. Massage it in for a few more seconds, then rinse. Then you're supposed to follow with a Dermalogica cleanser.
Since I do not have a Dermalogica cleanser I was not able to test how well these products worked with it. I also did not attempt to use my regular cleanser after using these because I used the oil in the morning and the wipes after work, and I save my main face washing for at night before bed.
Bottom Line: I enjoyed using the Dermalogica Precleanse Wipes and Oil-Busting Emulsifyer and I think they do a great job of breaking down makeup and oil from the skin. I would definitely use these in the morning and not with another cleanser, as I feel that they do a good enough job on their own (plus, in the morning I prefer to do a lighter cleansing routine anyway).

Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50 Review & Coupon
I have to admit that, up until recently, I was not that diligent about daily sun protection. If I was going to be out in the sun for a long period of time I would load up on sunscreen, but when it came to just daily tasks where I'd be indoors most of the time (work, grocery shopping, etc.), using sunscreen usually didn't take a huge precedence. I know this is a really bad practice, so I've been trying to be more mindful of using sun protection even when I won't be outside for extended periods. Luckily, I discovered the dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50 daily moisturizer at just the right time!
This medium-weight moisturizer contains an upgraded formula that accelerates the product's SPF from 30 to 50 while using 50% less chemical sunscreen agents, made possible by an advanced oleosome technology. Oleosomes are naturally-occurring spheres of emollient oils and Vitamin E found in safflower seeds. They deliver the active ingredients found in this sunscreen directly to the skin's surface and release them over time to ensure maximum benefits. In addition to sun protection, the Dynamic Skin Recovery moisturizer also reduces hyperpigmentation, stimulates collagen synthesis, and regulates collagen degradation.
I've been using this as my morning moisturizer for a few weeks now and I love it! It's described as medium-weight, but I find it to be quite lightweight, and it absorbs into my skin very quickly with no feeling of greasy residue. The dispenser is an air-tight pump and it gives just enough product each time, so you don't have to worry about wasting any. It has a very light scent, but I don't think it's anything that would overwhelm someone who was sensitive to scented products.
Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this moisturizer, not only does it work well with my oily/combo (but also sensitive) skin, but the SPF 50 is excellent protection.
