HairUWear Hair Extensions Review

I recently reviewed a few Hairdo hair extensions pieces (read that review here) and I'm back with more from the Hairdo collection plus a piece from the Hairuwear line featuring Christie Brinkley!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

I have short hair but I've always wanted to play around with hair extensions, especially ones like the Hairuwear and Hairdo line that clip in. After trying the individual Hairdo pieces, I found that I needed more than one insert to blend into my short hair, so I tried the 8 Piece Straight Extension Kit and the Hairuwear 21" extension.

Here's what the 21" Hairuwear Extension looks like. It's made with synthetic hair that is layered for seamless blending and can be heat styled up to 300°F. The hair is really soft and the Darkest Brown color matched my natural shade perfectly.

The underside has a mesh attachment with five clips: three on the top and two on the bottom. The clips are strong and felt secure and snug when I attached them to my hair. Keep scrolling for a photo of me wearing the piece at the end of this post.

The Hairdo 8 Piece Extension Kit is a great option for shorter hair, or people who want more control over how much volume they want to add in. It's available in a Straight and Wavy option, and this is a review for the straight kit.

The kit comes with one 7" piece, one 6" piece, four 4" pieces, and two 2.5" pieces. All of the pieces are the same length, but the inches I just listed are for the width of the clip in. They're made with synthetic hair that can be heat styled.

The Midnight Brown shade was a perfect match for my natural hair. I was hoping these would work better for me than the single pieces I tried before, as I needed more to add in to look natural with the layers of my cut.

Here I am with just the 21" piece in. As you can see, it has great length and shape, but because it's just one piece it looks pretty funny with my natural hair cut. This a great piece for someone with maybe shoulder length or longer hair, as I think it could blend in easier than my chin-length hair.

In this photo I'm wearing all of the pieces above -- the 21" piece and all of the eight pieces of the other kit. I think it looks much fuller, although it isn't entirely perfect. I think that is more because I wasn't great at putting these in myself and not necessarily a reflection of the quality of the product.

The only complaint I have about the eight piece kit is that some of the clips on the pieces didn't clip in that well. While the 21" piece was secure and snug, I had a hard time getting the smaller clips of the eight piece kit to snap into my hair. I do have very thick hair, though. I'm going to make an appointment with my stylist to have her teach me how better to use these, since I'm a total novice with it! I think they have great potential and will be a fun way to mix up my look.

Bottom Line: The Hairuwear and Hairdo extensions are easy to use and are good for anyone who wants to quickly add in some extra length and volume. They have a huge line of products available, including human hair pieces, wigs, and more in all different shades.

Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork Review

I'm a big fan of Arbonne skincare, so I was really excited to try their new RE9 Advanced Prepwork line! It's made up of four great products to give your skin a healthy glow while protecting it from external stressors. All of the products are also vegan and cruelty free!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

The RE9 Advanced Prepwork line is formulated with a special superfood cocktail, including Kakadu Plum with Vitamin C and Raspberry Ceramide. The Kakadu Plum helps boost luminosity and maintain moisture and the Raspberry Ceramide help's support skin's moisture barrier.

The Cleansing Polish is a gentle exfoliator that can be used daily. It polishes skin without stripping it of moisture and instantly removes impurities, makeup, dirt, and excess oil. It has lingonberry and apricot exfoliants to evenly remove dull surface cells. It's so gentle that you can use it twice daily, in the morning and at night! It's suitable for all skin types.

I have oily but sensitive skin so I rarely exfoliate more than once a week, but this cleanser really is gentle enough for daily use. I only used it once in the morning and not at night, but it didn't irritate or inflame my skin at all. My skin felt cleansed and smooth after use.

The Gel Eye Masks are a wonderful treat! They're soothing, cooling eye masks that immediately hydrate skin and lessen the look of tired, puffy eyes. They're made with a superfood cocktail of Vitamins C and E, antioxidants, omegas, and phytonutrients to improve moisture levels and soften the look of baby lines around the eyes. They are also ophthalmologist-, allergy-, and dermatologist-tested.

I love these eye masks! They're shimmery and golden and are so soothing after a long day. You could use these in the morning to perk up or at night to relax (or both), but I usually ended up using these at night. I love the cooling sensation of the gel, and I'd put them on and just close my eyes and relax for a few minutes. I recommend storing them in the fridge to make them even more cooling. The best part is that after you remove them, they leave behind a potent serum that you can then gently massage into your skin.

The Hydrating Dew Cream is a cream-to-gel formula that's super lightweight and feels like morning dew on the skin. It helps with immediate and long-term hydration and softens any baby lines that may be beginning on the skin. It also helps decrease shine and reduces the appearance of pores.

I loved how light this felt on my skin. The cream-to-gel consistency is really interesting; it goes on smoothly and feels really cooling and hydrating as it absorbs into the skin. It's a perfect summer moisturizer, since no one wants to have anything heavy during the hot summer months.

Last up is the Soft Focus Veil Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen, a breathable, lightweight skin veil with 100% mineral-based sunscreen. It has broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection, which is essential at all times throughout the year. It has the same superfood cocktail of ingredients as the other products, so not only does it protect your skin from harmful sun, but it also helps hydrate. The soft focus effect helps blur the appearance of pores and baby lines, making it a perfect base for makeup, too.

Since the Hydrating Dew Cream doesn't have any SPF in it, this is the perfect complement to the moisturizer. I always wear SPF every day, no matter the season or weather, and everyone else should, too! This feels great on my skin and I like that it doubles as makeup primer.
  • Visit Arbonne to learn more and purchase
Bottom Line: The Arbonne RE9 Advanced Prepwork line is fantastic. It has four great products that left my skin feeling so hydrated and soft. I like that they're made with botanical ingredients and are cruelty-free, too!

The May box had 11 individual products from 10 brands. Here's what was inside:
  • Popcorn, Indiana Kettle Corn ($3.29) - This kettle corn is made with a pinch of salt and cane sugar. It has a great salty sweet taste.
  • Goya Maria Cookies ($.89) - These biscuits are from Spain and have a subtly sweet flavor. I think they go great with morning coffee.
  •  Cello Whisps ($3.99) - These have been featured before and are back by popular demand! They're dried crisps made of 100% cheese. I got the cheddar flavor. They're great on soups and salads, or any other creative uses you can think of.
  • Deep River Snacks Sweet Maui Onion ($1.29) - These are my all-time favorite brand and flavor of kettle chips! They have a sweet and savory onion and garlic flavor and are also Non-GMO Project verified, nut-free, vegan, and kosher.
  • Zaffi Taffy The Clean Teeth Taffy ($3.99 for a 3 oz package) - This is a sample pack, but there's a coupon inside good for a free full-sized package. These candies are sugar, gluten, nut, and dairy free and are also vegan and kosher. They're meant to be eaten after a meal to help keep teeth clean.
  •  Rufus Teague Made Some Sauce ($4.99) - You'll receive one of two flavors; I received the Smoky Apple one (the other option is Honey Sweet BBQ). It has a sweet kick of tangy apple to compliment the sweet and smoky flavor.
  • Explore Cuisine Organic Chickpea Fusilli ($4.79) - This is an organic pasta made from chickpeas that has 11 grams of protein in just two ounces of product.
  •  Goya Medium Salsa Verde ($2.29) - I love using salsa verde with chicken. This one is made with tomatillo, jalapeno chiles, onion, and cilantro.
  • Karma Probiotics Wellness Water ($2.29) - I first tried this water after doing a 5K and they're really good. It has a probiotic powder in the cap that you pop once you're ready to drink it, and then you can shake it up within the water. It has a patented probiotic, GanedenBC30, to deliver active cultures 10 times more effectively than yogurt.
  • Post Grape-Nuts ($4.99) - This has granola with vanilla, Grape-Nuts, cranberries, and a touch of puffed barley. It's also Non-GMO Project verified.
The total approximate retail value of the May Degustabox is $32.80.
Bottom Line: The May Degustabox was great! I especially liked the Deep River Snacks chips and Karma Wellness Water. This box is great because you'll receive an assortment of items for less than what you would pay individually at the grocery store, and they always have new brands and products to discover!

May Ellebox Review

Ellebox is a box for women that sends organic period supplies and other goodies, all in time for your time of the month, every time.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Ellebox sends 100% organic pads and tampons with personal care goodies in two different monthly options:
  • Essentials Box: $10.99 per month for 16 organic pads/tampons
  • Comfort Box: $29.99 per month for the Essentials plus two surprise goodies, tea, and a healthy snack or chocolate
You can choose a plastic or cardboard applicator if you choose tampons. The organic pads and tampons have no chlorine, bleach, pesticides, synthetic fibers, or crude oils.

There's also a monthly Tween Box for $20 that has 15 pads, five pantyliners, two surprise gifts, and educational content for girls to help them and their parents/guardians be prepared for their first period and make it a little less stressful.

Shipping is free to the U.S. and the FAQ page says there is a small fee for shipping to Canada, though it doesn't say exactly what the fee is. They do say that they are actively working to remove the Canadian shipping fee.

This is a review for the Comfort Box. I love the simple but stylish packaging, especially the sticker of the female reproductive system that holds everything together. I like that boxes like these destigmatize a woman's period and provide products to help you prepare for and pamper during that time of the month.

I chose to receive 16 pads, as I don't use tampons, but you can customize your box to include up to 16 of whatever type of product you need.

There's a nice foldout info card that lists everything in your box, plus period tips and other information. This month's card has information about Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28th. I like this added information, because although I was lucky enough to have a lot of resources available when I got my first period, not all girls and women have access to this and the box is an easy way to share valuable information.

The surprise goodies this month were excellent! Here's what was inside, aside from the pads:
  • Element Botanicals Natural Deodorant ($10) - I received the Flora scent, which is a light, gentle floral. The deodorant has a hefty dose of bacteria-killing, moisture-absorbing, and naturally effective ingredients to keep you feeling fresh.
  • Element Botanicals Alchemist Serum and Cleansing Oil ($18) - I love cleansing oils, and this one is 100% natural. It has highly concentrated botanicals and extracts to deliver intense nourishment to balance your complexion. It can also be used as a leave-in serum to improve elasticity, clarity, and promote cell renewal and repair.
  • Truffle Pig Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar ($2.74 USD/$3.50 CAD)- This bar was delicious, and the chocolate was shaped like three little piggies! I probably should have taken a photo, but I ate it shortly after taking these photos and didn't think about it until after. It's made with 47% cacao, which is a great source of fiber and can reduce inflammation.
  • Tea Sparrow Japanese Treasures Green Tea ($12) - I love a good cup of tea, especially to relax during that time of the month. These can be made hot or iced.
This month's extra goodies have a retail value of $42.74 which is well above the price of the box, and that isn't including the value of the pads/tampons.
Bottom Line: I think Ellebox is a great way to treat yourself during your period, and I love that they send 100% organic supplies with organic and natural goodies! The Tween Box is also a great option for young girls to get comfortable with their period.

Phillip Adam Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo Review

Phillip Adam is a family-run company that creates all-natural hair and skin care products with clean and botanical ingredients. I've been using their Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and it's wonderful!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Phillip Adam worked as a hairdresser for 50 years prior to starting his own line of products. He wanted to create hair care that was clean and free of any harsh chemicals that still produced salon-quality results. The products are available at stores like Whole Foods, Choices Markets, and more.

The Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner are biodegradable, vegan, cruelty-free, and free from gluten, sulfates, and parabens. They're great for every day use and appropriate for all types of hair, including color treated hair.

The Shampoo balances the scalp's pH level and keeps it healthy over time. Hair is left clean, shiny, and soft. The conditioner does the same, as well as detangling and controlling static electricity in the hair, leaving it nice and smooth.

My first thought when I heard about the Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner was: do they smell like apple cider vinegar? If you've ever smelled the vinegar by itself, you know it's pretty pungent. Good news -- both the shampoo and conditioner have a delicious green apple scent that is fruity and wonderful, not the sharp vinegar smell of regular apple cider vinegar.

Here's a look at the ingredients for both products. As you can see, there's a lot of good stuff in there, including fruit extracts and other natural ingredients.

I've used the Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner for a week and I love them! I have an oily scalp but hair that I heat style regularly, so I need something that will balance my scalp while being gentle on my hair. These products are great at both, plus they smell so good!
  • Visit the Phillip Adam website to browse their full line of products
Bottom Line: The Phillip Adam Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner are an affordable, salon-quality set that will leave your hair smelling and looking great! I highly recommend it for all hair types.

May Gramma in a Box Review and Coupon

Gramma in a Box is a new subscription that sends fun cookie and candy crafts that are great for bonding with your family, whether they live nearby or are further away!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Gramma in a Box was created by Terry; she was inspired to start the box after three of her grandchildren moved to Seattle. She started boxing up cookies and treats that they could make together when they Skyped, and that turned into a subscription that anyone can share with their family!

Each month you'll receive three cookie and candy crafts with almost everything you'll need to complete them. The only things you may need to supply are household staples like a spoon to stir up a mixture or a bowl to melt chocolate in.

All of the boxes will include homemade cookies, so you don't even have to worry about baking anything yourself! There's enough for 15 to 20 finished cookie/candy treats each month.

Here are the pricing options:
  • Monthly: $20 per month
  • Three Months: $55 every three months (save $5)
  • Six Months: $110 every six months (save $10)
  • 12 Months: $220 every 12 months (save $20)
Shipping is free to the U.S. and taxes are included. If you want to cancel, do so by the 25th of the month.

May's box featured three crafts that followed the life cycle of the butterfly. Here's everything that was inside.

Each craft has a card with instructions, plus there's a separate card with an introduction to the theme and a list of the box contents on the other side. The instructions are simple and easy to follow, and I like that the opposite side of each instruction card has a list of the ingredients and possible allergens for each craft.

The first project was Marshmallow Caterpillars and included mini marshmallows and melting chocolate. I had to use a bowl and spoon of my own, but I'm sure every kitchen is equipped with these items!

The craft involved melting the chocolate discs (mine were ready after just a minute) and then using the chocolate to hold the marshmallows together. I made three different caterpillars with alternating color patterns. There's a photo of the finished product below, along with the second craft.

The second craft was a Hibernating Caterpillar, or Pupa. This craft included the melted chocolate from the first craft, along with pretzel rods, large marshmallows, and sprinkles.

This involved dipping the pretzels into the chocolate, then inserting the pretzel into the marshmallow and rolling the top half of the marshmallow into the chocolate. You could then use the sprinkles for decoration.

Here are my finished caterpillars and pupae! I love how the pupae came out and will definitely do this craft again when I need an easy dessert to pass or fun gift to give out.

The third and final craft was my favorite: Butterfly Cookies! There were two different sized butterflies and two caterpillar sugar cookies, pre-baked and carefully packaged. The box also included three colors of frosting in easy to use frosting bags and four different types of sprinkles.

I'm not great at frosting cookies, but I think these came out pretty good! I loved the different colors in the frosting and sprinkles. They're perfect for spring!

The cookies were a lot of fun to make and I liked that the frosting was already in frosting bags. It made them a lot easier to decorate. And not only were they fun to make, they were even more fun to eat! They tasted great; I love a good sugar cookie.

I had so much fun doing the Gramma in a Box crafts and a ton of fun eating them after, too! This box is fun for all ages. I can see it being a hit with younger kids and a great way for them to spend time with a parent or grandparent, but it's a lot of fun for older kids or even people my age.
  • Visit Gramma in a Box to subscribe
    • Use coupon code 1Ooff to get $10 off your purchase (the character after the one is an upper case O, not a zero)
    • NOTE: If you choose the monthly auto-debit option, you won't need the coupon code because your first box will automatically be $10
  • Connect with them on Facebook and Instagram
Bottom Line: Gramma in a Box is a great way to send some love to and make memories with your family. The crafts are unique and easy to do, and afterwards you have delicious candies and cookies to eat!

Dispatch: On the Run Review - Box 2

If you're a fan of puzzles and mysteries, Dispatch by Breakout Games is the perfect subscription! Solve a mystery by following along with each box, which contains clues to help you along throughout the story.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Breakout Games is the largest escape game company in the U.S., and the Dispatch box is their new subscription service. The first story in the series is "On The Run," and this is a review of the second box in the story. Read my review of the first box here, and a review of my Breakout Games escape room experience here.

The boxes costs $24.99 per month with free shipping. Taxes apply for New York ($2 were added when I entered my address), so I'm assuming they apply for California, as well.

The "On The Run" story follows the disappearance of your closest friend, who is suspected of killing his wife. The box has physical clues with details embedded online that will help you solve the mystery of what really happened.

Everything in the Dispatch boxes is so well-crafted. I was so impressed by the quality of the clues and inserts in the first box, and the realistic details continued with the second box (as expected). Here's a look at everything when I first took it out of the box.

There were four newspaper clippings to read.

There are also several handwritten notes that contain a bunch of details. Sitting down to read them really immersed me in the story and makes it seem so real!

There was also an envelope from the Bailey Detective Company with a bunch of police reports inside. If you ever get stuck with any of the clues, the first box contained a link to the detective's website at which you can enter a question to receive some help.

The police reports include an autopsy report, homicide report, and more. These were really interesting to read and contained a ton of detail. I don't want to say too much about the exact contents and writing, since I don't want to spoil the story for subscribers.

I probably should have included this photo first, but there's also an info card that lists everything that's inside of the box.

Bottom Line: I love a good mystery, and the interactive experience provided by the Dispatch box is a really unique way to immerse yourself in the story! I highly recommend this box to anyone who enjoys puzzles and detective stories. The clues are all really detailed and well-crafted, and it's fun to get lost in the story!
