"Okashi" means snacks in Japanese, and with Japan Okashi Box you'll get a shipment of 15 to 20 of the best snacks and a bonus item, such as stationery. The snacks are sourced from ICHIBA, which is a wholesale market in Japan, and the box ships directly from Japan.
There are two pricing options:
- Monthly: $39 per month
- Three Month Prepay: $111 every three months (5% discount)
The box also comes with a guide that includes English translations of all of the snacks, including ingredient lists and allergen information. I found this really helpful, especially the extra effort they make with listing the ingredients in the snacks.
My box had a total of 21 snacks and one bonus item. Here's what was inside:
- Umai-bou: I've had these snacks before and they're so good! They're corn puff tubes in different flavors (the third is in another photo below) -- corn potage, yakitori, and takoyaki.
- Gummy Choco: These are strawberry gummies coated in milk chocolate. I haven't had them yet, but they sound amazing.
- Kit Kats: These are matcha flavored Kit Kats. If you're familiar with Japanese treats, then you already know that Japan has a huge variety of flavors that you can't find in the U.S.
- Baby Star Ramen: These are dry ramen noodles flavored with chicken, shrimp, and crab.
- Black Thunder: These candy bars are so good! They're a chocolate cookie center (kind of like crushed up Oreos) covered in milk chocolate.
- Puku Puku Tai: These little fish sandwiches are super popular in East Asian countries. It's a wafer cookie with chocolate filling and is so good!
- Ototo: These little crackers are light and airy and flavored with chicken extract. They're shaped like various sea creatures.
- Almond Glico: Glico is a classic Japanese candy, kind of like a creamy/nougat-y type candy. These are flavored with almonds.
- Kajyu Gummy: These gummies are so good! I received the grape flavor and they're so juicy and delicious.

- Bakauke: These crackers are light and crunch and seaweed flavored.
- Kyabetsu-Taro: These chips were delicious. They're puffy corn snacks and the flavor is listed as "corn." They were nice and salty and I wish there were more in the bag.
- Morokoshiwa-Taro: These were also puffy corn snacks with great flavor. They're flavored with chicken extract.
- Poteto-Furai: These potato snacks are chicken flavored and also have soy sauce in the ingredients list.
- Kakinotane: These are little crackers with a harder texture and are chilli pepper flavored. There are also some peanuts in the mix.
- Super Mario Peloty: This is a chocolate candy shaped like Mario's head.
- Sakura Sticky Memo: This is the bonus item for the month and is a pack of sticky notes shaped like sakura flowers (cherry blossoms).
- PRETZ: These are listed as the "lightly salted" flavor and I'm obsessed with them. They're so simple, just a really thin breadstick, but they tasted amazing.
- Nigi-Nigi Gummy Osushiya-San: These gummies have peach, banana, and lemon flavors. I haven't tried them yet, but they look really great.
Bottom Line: My Japan Okashi Box had a ton of great snacks! I like that there's a good mix of sweet and savory, and I've found a bunch of new favorites. I especially enjoyed the PRETZ and Kajyu Gummies. This box is a great value for anyone who loves hard-to-find authentic Japanese snacks!
