April Scentbird Review - Vera Wang Princess Night

Scentbird has become one of my favorite subscriptions, and I used to hate getting perfume samples! I guess I never really appreciated fragrance until I tried this subscription out. Now I can't wait to get my package each month and I'm constantly adding new perfumes to my Scentbird queue!

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love! Post contains affiliate links.

Scentbird is a perfume subscription that costs $14.95 per month, shipping included. Currently they only ship to the United States. I live in New York and tax applies, so my shipments cost somewhere around $16. It's still well worth it, though!

The way it works is you add perfumes you'd like to try to your queue, and each month Scentbird will send you a .27 fl oz atomizer with the scent you chose inside. Your first shipment will include a Scentbird purse spray case and a felt bag to keep it in (see what those look like here). Subsequent months will consist only of the atomizers (pictured above), but you can spray them on their own even without the case.

Scentbird has tons of perfumes to choose from, and they even recommend some to you based on the scent profile you fill out when you first sign up. If you prefer to be surprised, simply leave your queue empty and they'll send you a random perfume.

For April I chose Princess Night by Vera Wang, which I remembered loving in high school. I love warm scents that border on gourmand, and this one is the perfect balance of that. It has notes of sugarcane, vanilla, raspberry, watermelon, and red berries. It's definitely a sweet one, but if you like those types of perfumes as much as I do I'm sure you would love this.

Bottom Line: My last two perfumes were just okay (not the fault of Scentbird, I just didn't end up caring for them as much as I thought I would), so I was glad I got one that I knew I would love this month. I have Bvlgari Omnia Coral in my queue for next month!

What do you think of Scentbird? Do you like sweet perfumes?

RITUALS Sakura Collection Rice Scrub Review

I love any product that will let me have a spa-like experience at home, and RITUALS is an amazing brand of cruelty-free body and skincare that does just that! Their new Sakura Collection blends the sweetness of cherry blossoms with nourishing organic rice milk for an incredible experience, inside and out.

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

My first experience with RITUALS was when I reviewed their Good Luck Scrub last November and I was impressed by the quality of their products. This time I got to try the Rice Scrub from their Sakura Collection.

Rice is a symbol of abundance, happiness, and fertility throughout Asia. The essence of rice in the Sakura Collection line makes skin soft, supple, and glowing. The sakura blossom, or Japanese cherry tree blossom, symbolizes the rebirth of nature and purity in Japanese culture and has a soft, delicate fragrance. These two components combine in this wonderful body scrub for a very effective, great smelling experience!

I have always loved the scent of Japanese cherry blossom so I was excited to try this scrub. I used it in the shower and was immediately in love with the scent. I don't enjoy fragrances that are very strong florals, but luckily this is very calming and soft. It also has a woodiness to it that I enjoy. I loved using it in the shower because the combination of the steam from the warm water and the calming scent made me feel incredibly relaxed.

The scrub itself is fine yet gentle, if that makes sense. I wouldn't use it on my face, but it's not too rough for the rest of your body. The organic rice extract sloughs away dead skin and leaves everything feeling nice and smooth. I also like that it's in a squeeze tube; when I get a scrub that comes in a tub I sometimes find it awkward to use in the shower because I want to scoop a little out at the time but I also don't want to get a ton of excess water in it (from my hands dripping, etc). This easily dispenses from the tube so I don't have to worry about any of that.

I do want to note that this has sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) listed as the second ingredient, so if you try to stay away from sulfates then this might not be for you.

  • The Rice Scrub is not currently listed in the RITUALS shop, but you can visit their website to see all of the other products in the Sakura Collection (and beyond).

Bottom Line: The RITUALS Sakura Collection Rice Scrub smells fantastic and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. I think it's the perfect body scrub!

April Orange Glad Review

Orange Glad always has awesome boxes and I thoroughly enjoyed my three-month gift subscription that I received from my friend Linze (read all of those reviews here), so when I heard that they were looking for bloggers to review their April box I immediately threw my name into the ring!

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

Orange Glad is a snack subscription box that sends bakery sweets to your door. Prices are as follows:
  • $21.95/month ($17 + $4.95 shipping) for a month-to-month subscription
  • $20.95/month ($16 + $4.95 shipping) for a three-month subscription, $62.85 total
  • $19.95/month ($15 + $4.95 shipping) for a six-month subscription, $119.70 total
You can also choose the Double Treats Box, view the price breakdown for those boxes here. The standard box will have five carefully selected gourmet treats and the Double Treats Box will, well, have double that! Currently they only ship to U.S. addresses.

This is a review of the standard box. I noticed that Orange Glad has changed their packaging since I last subscribed, including a separate box inside of a box to better protect the more delicate treats.

Here's what was packed inside of the smaller white box. I like that they're doing this now because no one wants to get broken cookies in their boxes!

  • Toffee Talk Almond Toffee ($6 for 2 oz) - Toffee Talk is made in San Francisco, and this variety has "the perfect ratio of almonds to toffee and just the right amount of semi-sweet chocolate." I haven't tried this yet because I don't love almonds, but I do love toffee so I'll eventually give it a go.
  • Fairytale Brownies in Original ($3.08 for one, $37 for a dozen) - $37 for a dozen brownies?! This had better be one amazing brownie. I haven't tried it yet but now I'm all the more intrigued to see how it tastes. It's made in Phoenix with dark Callebaut Belgian chocolate and "a dash of magic."
  • Zesty Cookie Company Hot Cocoa Cookies ($2.10 for three cookies) - These are made with cayenne pepper and tasted like a delicious Mexican hot chocolate! I loved them. They were a little crunchier than I was expecting--they weren't hard, but they weren't entirely soft either--but I ended up loving the flavor so much that I didn't mind the texture (I was expecting them to be softer). These are made in Boxford, Massachusetts.
  • A Couple of Squares Simply Good Chocolate Chip Biscuits ($1.22 for two cookies) - I ate these with my coffee this morning and they were so good! They were nice and light and buttery and were probably my favorite snack in the box so far. They're made in London, Ontario, Canada.
  • QUIN Candy Dreams Come Chew ($2.75 for five pieces) - These candies are made in Portland, Oregon and come in four flavors: cherry, strawberry, tangerine, and lemon. I've tried a strawberry one so far and I love them! They're very chewy, so I wouldn't recommend these for people who don't like getting things stuck in their teeth. The flavor is amazing, though!
Bottom Line: April's Orange Glad box didn't disappoint! I'm always happy to get some good snacks to satisfy my sweet tooth and I liked the variety they included here. The total approximate retail value adds up to $15.15, so it's much less than the price of the box (or just about even, depending on what payment plan you choose). However, I still think it's a fun subscription because they send treats from companies that aren't easily accessible from where I live.

What do you think of Orange Glad?

Marvel Collector Corps Inaugural Box Review (April 2015)

When I first heard about Marvel Collector Corps I knew I had to sign up right away--Pete and I are huge Marvel fans! I couldn't believe how affordable the box was, but we probably would have signed up anyway even if it was more expensive. The first box is finally here and we love it!

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love!

Marvel Collector Corps is a brand new subscription from Funko (you know, like Funko POP! Vinyls?) that sends exclusive Marvel merchandise to you every other month. April's box is the first, so this will ship next in June, August, and so forth.

The box costs $25 plus shipping ($6.95 to U.S. addresses), and taxes where applicable. Payment is through PayPal. I live in New York and the final total with tax and shipping came out to $34.51. This box also ships internationally, and this is the information regarding shipping charges that is on the website's FAQ page:

Items over $20 in value will have duties/taxes that will range from 12% – 18% depending on the Province. There may also be a collection fee from the posted country.

I think that this box is well worth the bimonthly price because they send only exlcusive items and t-shirts! This box is seriously any Marvel lover's dream.

The box ships from New Jersey so it got to me in just two days. Shipping originates with UPS, but my box got transferred to USPS and was delivered that way. I'm not sure if that will be the same for everyone within the U.S. or not. Either way, the handling time was super quick so I'm not mad at that at all.

The box itself is very big and is impressively decorated! I love the Captain America art on the top of the box, since he's my favorite Avenger. The theme for April is, obviously, The Avengers, since Avengers: Age of Ultron is coming out in one week (May 1st). One more note about the packaging: the first photo in this post is what I found when I opened the top of the box.

Everything was packaged very neatly inside. The website promises that each box will contain a t-shirt, a stylized vinyl collectible, and two premium accessories.

I think most people subscribed for the Funko POP! Vinyl, and this one is excellent! I love that the items are exclusive--I feel like I keep bringing that up but it's so cool to know that the only way to get these initially is to subscribe to the box, and that not everyone can just go to the store and pick one up.

  • Hulkbuster Funko POP! Vinyl - This is one of the most detailed POP! Vinyls I've ever seen, and it's huge in comparison to the normal ones! I absolutely love it. I think these usually retail around $10, but I think this would be worth a little bit more even if it wasn't exclusive because of its size. This was actually listed on the website as being a part of the box and was in the teaser trailer, but I didn't visit the site and I didn't put two and two together during the teaser trailer so it was a surprise to me!

  • Avengers Comic - Pete and I were subscribed to the Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited service for a while, so although we aren't subscribed to it currently we still love a good comic book. I'm not sure if every box will include a comic or not, especially since each box will have a different theme, so I don't know if they would be able to keep continuity with the storylines.
  • Dorbz Age of Ultron Figurine - I think these are a new line of products from Funko and they really are "adorbz!" This one is of Ultron himself and it's so funny to see him in such kawaii form, because the real Ultron is a lot more terrifying.

I'm definitely going to purchase more Dorbz. I love the Groot and Rocket Raccoon ones in the Guardians of the Galaxy collection!

  • Hulk vs. Ultron T-Shirt - Subscribers received one of four designs, and I was hoping to get Captain America. Instead we got Hulk, who is probably my least favorite Avenger, but I still really like the design of the t-shirt. It's made of super soft cotton and will be great to wear around. I might even wear it to the Age of Ultron premiere...

Here's a look at the pin and badge that came affixed to the top of the box. I'm going to assume that there will be some of these for every box to match the theme of the box. I love the Captain America pin!
Bottom Line: The Collector Corps website says that each box will contain $50 worth of merchandise. It's a little difficult to calculate the retail value since the items are all exclusive, but the POP! Vinyl and t-shirt alone make this worth it for me. All of the other items just make it even better! This might be my most favorite subscription box of all time, no lie.

What do you think of the first Marvel Collector Corps box? Are you an Avengers fan?

April PopSugar Must Have Review and Coupon

April's PopSugar Must Have box was all about welcoming in spring. I have to admit, spring and summer are my least favorite seasons, so often I find that I don't love the items in boxes around this time of year as much as I love fall/winter boxes. Regardless, I thought this month's box was well-curated.

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love! Post contains affiliate links.

PopSugar Must Have is a lifestyle box that contains full-sized items with a total retail value of $100+ each month. It costs $39.95 per month and shipping is free, albeit very slow. My box takes forever to get to me (I live in New York). Also, they currently only ship to U.S. addresses.

April's box contained five items total, six if you include the gift card. I wasn't blown away by any of the items but I found them all to be pretty useful and I understand why they were chosen. The theme is cohesive and appropriate for the season.

  • One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum ($39.00 for 4 fl oz) - This serum nourishes, hydrates, and promotes firmer, smoother skin. This seemed to be pretty well-liked by most subscribers, but I actually swapped mine away because I already have a lot of products to use up that are very similar.
  • Flip & Tumble 24-7 Bag ($12.00 for one bag) - This bag is super practical and great for grocery shopping. I made the switch to only using reusable bags when I shop a while ago but I'm always happy to have more. I love that this one folds up into a little ball; unfortunately, once I unfolded it I couldn't figure out how to get it packed up again.
  • Dabney Lee Dottie Umbrella ($18.00) - The info card in the box lists this as having a $20 retail price but it's listed on the Dabney Lee site as selling for $18, so that's the value I'll use here. Anyway, I needed a new umbrella so this came at the perfect time. The design is very cute and it's well-made.
  • Potting Shed Creations Garden-in-a-Bag Basil ($10.00 for 3.36 oz) - This is an all-in-one kit that lets you grow basil right from the bag, which is such a great idea! I'm not a gardener nor am I much of a cook, and although I know basil is an excellent herb to have on hand, I knew I wouldn't give this the love and care it needed so I swapped it.
  • Produce Candles Rhubarb Spring Candle ($20.00 for 9 oz) - This ended up being my favorite item in the box but at first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I love candles, but when I saw that this was rhubarb scented I thought, "ugh, who would want a rhubarb candle?" I've never actually had rhubarb so I guess I just assumed that it didn't smell great, but this candle certainly does! It's mostly sweet but still has some crispness to it.
  • $25 Gift Card to Mott50 (not pictured) - I had never heard of Mott50 before, but they sell "sun protective fashion." There are some nice pieces on their site but they're all pretty pricey so I probably won't use this.
Bottom Line: I was impressed by April's box even though I wasn't jumping for joy over any of the items. Like I said, I'm more of a fall/winter person and I love getting cozy, warm, spicy-scented things in subscription boxes, and that just isn't going to happen too often during the warmer months. I think I'll wait and see what May has in store and then reconsider whether or not I want to stay subscribed to PopSugar Must Have. Oh, and the total retail value of this box was $124 if you include the Mott50 gift card.
  • Use coupon code MUSTHAVE5 to save $5 off your first box!

Detox Your Spring Cleaning Routine with The Laundress!

Everyone knows that spring is a great time to clean out all of the messes that may have accumulated over the winter, but it's also the perfect opportunity to start working eco-friendly products into your routine! The Laundress has an excellent line of effective cleaning products to fit all of your needs.

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

There is a common belief that strong chemicals like bleach equal a better clean, but The Laundress's products disprove that pretty quickly. Truth be told, the harsh chemicals in your standard cleaning solutions may be doing more harm than good to yourself, your family, and your home. For example, my cat has asthma and I have to be careful not to use anything that will aggravate her pulmonary system. Products like bleach will certainly exacerbate her symptoms, so I want to steer clear from them!

The Laundress's Home Cleaning Collection boasts products like All-Purpose Bleach Alternative, which is an oxygenated bleach and made of 100% sodium percarbonate, making it family, pet, and food safe. It's also free of chlorine and artificial dyes and is color-friendly! You can read more about their full range of products at this blog post.

I received a bottle of The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Spray to try. At first I wasn't sure if I would be able to use it since I don't own any cashmere, but when I read up on the product I learned that it can be used on any fabric or furnishings.

This spray is made up of only deionized water, alcohol, essential oils, and fragrance. The ingredients are non-toxic, biodegradable, and allergen-free. It's also cruelty-free product with no animal by-products (vegan). I love that it has simple ingredients and no animal testing!

My favorite thing about the Wool & Cashmere Spray is its scent--it is amazing! The Laundress describes it as "our modern take on the traditional woody scent." Woody scents are one of my favorites, and this has an excellent warm and spicy cedar smell. It refreshed my clothes and left them smelling wonderful!
Bottom Line: The Laundress has a wide range of affordable, effective cleaning products for all of your household cleaning needs. They make it easy to incorporate eco-friendly products into your life!

Formio Review and Unboxing

There are plenty of accessory rental subscriptions out there, but I'm especially impressed by the beautiful jewelry that Formio has to offer! If you're looking for an affordable jewelry subscription then I think you'll like them, too.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

Formio costs $19 for a unlimited jewelry and purse rentals. Shipping is free both ways and you can cancel at any time. I looked on the FAQ page to find out to which countries they ship, but I couldn't find a specific listing. I know they at least ship to the contiguous U.S.

I was expecting to get a box from Formio but they actually ship everything in a monogrammed dust bag. I didn't receive a purse with this shipment, but if you do receive a purse and decide to purchase it outright you can save your dust bag to store it in. Otherwise you have to send your dust bag back to Formio when you exchange your items.

When you create an account you can add items to your accessory queue; this allows the Formio stylists to choose pieces for you based on your preferences. I received four pieces of jewelry: two bracelets and two sets of earrings. I didn't add any purses to my queue because the only ones available were clutches and I don't like to carry those (I need a strap with my purse!). I'm a little bummed that I didn't get a necklace to try since they're my favorite type of jewelry, but the pieces I did receive are right up my alley.

  • Possibilities Bracelet - This bracelet is from the Manhattan collection and was one that I had added to my accessory queue. I was drawn to the gold and the beading and figured it would be easy to wear to work or out with friends.
  • Perfection Bracelet - This is also from the Manhattan collection and was a piece I had added to my queue. I liked that it was simple and had some bling to it.

Both bracelets have some stretch to them and fit me well. I have small wrists but I think that both would stretch enough to fit most wrist sizes.

  • Arlina's Adventure Earrings - I usually don't like druzy earrings because they tend to be larger stones but I thought that these were the perfect size. They're from the Manhattan collection and, again, were an item I had added to my queue. It's hard to tell in the photo but they're a very light mint green color.
  • Alta Earrings - I think these are the Alta earrings, they look blue on the Formio page but they're the only ones on the site that have the same shape as the ones I received. They are also from the Manhattan collection and are my favorite type of earring. I love small studs and would definitely wear these on the daily.
Bottom Line: I really liked all of the Formio pieces I received and would wear them on several occasions! I think the Possibilities bracelet is my favorite. Obviously I really like Formio's Manhattan collection, but if these pieces aren't quite your style don't worry--there are plenty of other types of pieces to choose from!
What do you think of Formio? What type of jewelry do you like to wear?

April Beauty Box 5 Review

I think that April's Beauty Box 5 might be my most favorite one yet! This month's box featured three full-sized items and a great selection of brands.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

Beauty Box 5 sends five deluxe samples and/or full-sized products to you for only $12 a month. Shipping is free within the U.S. and is an extra $3 to Canadian addresses. Boxes feature everything from cosmetics to hair care or accessories!

  • Incoco Nail Polish Appliques ($8.99, full-sized) - I have tried these strips once before and really enjoyed them. I love the pattern I got (it's called Blushing Beauty); it's really cute and perfect for spring. I currently have nothing on my nails so I think I'll use these tonight!
  • Dancin' Goat Hula Bliss Body Lotion ($4.50 for 2 oz) - I've seen the Dancin' Goat brand in other beauty boxes but hadn't tried any of their products until I got this. I'm very happy that it was included because I love supporting independent brands like this one. The scent is great, very bright and citrus-y, and the lotion is made with goat's milk!
  • Style Essentials TwinGloss ($2.50 for .03 oz, full-sized) - This reminds me of a lip gloss I would have bought back when I was in middle school. I like the pink color, but I posted this for swap because I'm so overloaded with lip glosses at the moment.
  • First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser ($.72 for three .06 oz packets) - I normally don't like to get foil packets because the packaging sucks and they're small amounts of product, but I love First Aid Beauty and their cleansers. I also appreciate that BB5 included more than just one packet. I've used this cleanser before and it works well with my skin, so these will definitely get used.
  • Lasting Smiles Passionfruit Mango Organic Lip Balm ($4.99 for .15 oz, full-sized) - I first learned of this brand through Leaping Bunny when they became certified and I love what they do. Not only does this lip balm smell and work great, but each purchase helps raise money for a child who needs a cleft lip or cleft palate surgery. Every 1,000 balms sold equals one surgery (learn more here), and lip balms are easily accessible at stores like Walgreens. I will be buying more of these for sure!
Bottom Line: This month's Beauty Box 5 had a total approximate retail value of $21.70 and contained three full-sized products. My favorite is the Lasting Smiles lip balm, and I was also happy to see the Dancin' Goat lotion. Overall I think this was a great box!

Ultimate Green Coffee Giveaway!

Ultimate Green Coffee is a high performance dietary supplement that supports the reduction of body fat, helps reduce appetite, and promotes higher energy levels. It's made with green coffee beans and is an easy way to integrate weight loss into your busy lifestyle!

Green coffee beans are fresh green seeds that are found inside the red coffee cherry berry (say that five times fast!). Ultimate Green Coffee uses the extracts of these seeds, as well as a proprietary blend of raspberry ketones and green tea to help your body burn excess fat.

The chlorogenic acid extract in the green coffee beans helps accelerate the body's weight loss mechanisms and slows down glucose intake, allowing for blood sugar levels to balance out. Ultimate Green Coffee also contains superior levels of antioxidants to help boost your metabolism and suppress your appetite. It also promotes lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

The green tea and raspberry ketones work to increase the rate of fat burning reactions in the body, which helps burn fat faster and boost your energy levels. Studies have shown that green tea aids in weight loss by preventing the growth of fat cells. These ingredients combine to make a powerful and effective formula.

The recommended dosage is two capsules per day for adults, to be taken with a meal. Ultimate Green Coffee contains about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, so if you're not a regular coffee drinker or consumer of caffeine you'll definitely want to take note of that. The instructions recommend that you limit your intake of other caffeinated products while using Ultimate Green Coffee and that you abstain from taking it five hours or less before bedtime.

If you're interested in trying Ultimate Green Coffee you can enter to win a bottle below! This sweepstakes ends at 12:01 AM on Monday, April 27th. It is open to U.S. residents aged 18+. Please see the bottom of the Rafflecopter form for full terms and conditions.

OraMD Toothpaste Review and Giveaway

A few months ago I reviewed OraMD Breath, a great spray to use when you need a little extra help in the freshness department. Recently I started using the original OraMD, a liquid toothpaste from Trusted Health Products that really packs a punch!

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

I had never used a liquid toothpaste before trying OraMD so I had no idea what to expect. Before I get into the review, a little background on the product:

OraMD is a 3-in-1 toothpaste, mouthwash, and breath freshener with strong antibacterial properties. It is made only of 100% pure, natural botanical oils of almond, spearmint, and peppermint. It has no GMOs, chemical additives, abrasives, or fluoride. Since it's in liquid form it gets in between your teeth and cleans the hard-to-reach places.

The first time I used OraMD I saw the "2 to 5 drops" instructions and decided to go big and use five. Bad idea! Well, not a bad idea, but I underestimated the strength of the oils! I would recommend using no more than two drops your very first time using this since it has a very strong mint taste and feeling. I won't lie, it felt like it was burning my mouth. It wasn't excruciating pain, but if you're not expecting it then it will take you by surprise. Here is some more information straight from Trusted Health Products about why that happens:
Please be advised that OraMD may taste overwhelmingly stout over the first half dozen uses or so and you will experience a very strong, minty taste. You may want to start out using just a drop or two! This strong “burn” is actually the anti-inflammatory properties killing bacteria and does take about a week to get used to but the “burn” will decrease in time.
To be fair, I had been given this information prior to my trying the product, I just forgot! Don't let it scare you, though--like I said, if you take it easy and only use a few drops as you get acclimated to the product it shouldn't be too much of an issue at all.

I've been using OraMD for a few weeks and I really like it, especially in the morning. It is excellent at killing bad breath and my teeth are left feeling nice and clean. I was worried that they wouldn't feel so clean because this is a non-foaming liquid, but it works just as well (if not better) than traditional toothpastes. Also, it doesn't contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), which is a commonly used surfactant in traditional toothpastes that many people choose to avoid.

Bottom Line: If you're seeking fresh breath at an affordable price, I think OraMD is a great option! I've been very happy with this liquid toothpaste and I would absolutely switch to using it instead of other toothpastes now.
If you'd like to try OraMD, for a limited time the manufacturer is willing to offer my readers a FREE bottle! They'd love for you to try it and will send you one free bottle as long as you're willing to pay a minimal shipping and handling charge. You'll also receive two eye-opening reports titled "The 6 Hidden Dangers in Toothpaste" and "Why the FDA Requires a Warning Label On Your Toothpaste." This is a total value of over $40! Click here to get your free bottle and reports.

Or, you can enter to win a bottle of OraMD right now! Trusted Health Products has kindly offered to send a bottle to three winners. You can enter using the Rafflecopter form below. The sweepstakes begins now and ends at 12:00 AM EST on Sunday, April 26th. Sweepstakes is open to residents of the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia aged 18+ only. Please see Rafflecopter for full Terms and Conditions.

April Birchbox Review

Birchbox has been sending really beautiful box designs this year, but April's box has been my favorite by far! They teamed up with Rifle Paper Co. and created something that I think is perfect for spring.

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love! Post contains referral links.

Isn't the box so pretty? I'm trying to think how I want to repurpose it. If you're not familiar with Rifle Paper Co., they're a stationery company but they sell everything from journals to calendars to paper coasters. I love their designs, and you can check them out here!

But back to the box. Obviously, the theme here is spring and fresh blooms. The weather is finally getting to be nice (and staying that way) here, and I'm welcoming the sunshine after a particularly bitter winter.

If you are brand new to the subscription box world then I suppose there's a chance you haven't heard of Birchbox, so just in case, it costs $10 per month (a little bit more if you live in New York) and they'll send you four to five deluxe samples from top beauty brands. My box was just so-so this month. I have gotten some boxes in the past, albeit very long ago, that I absolutely abhorred, but this one was more of a "meh" than a "wtf!" It wasn't that any of the samples were bad, just that they didn't really fit my needs or wants.

  • Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream in Blueberry ($2.96 for .75 fl oz) - I got a sample of this in the Pomegranate scent when I purchased a "Build Your Own Birchbox" at the Birchbox Soho Store and I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately I didn't. The blueberry smell is okay, it's pretty sweet, but what I don't like about this cream is that it isn't really effective. I felt that it left residue on my razor, plus since I was using it in the shower it didn't stick to my skin well enough.
  • Hydro Nutritive Repairing Shampoo ($3.44 for 2 fl oz) - I like getting any type of hair product in my boxes except shampoo and conditioners. My scalp is the oiliest in the land so I have a specific shampoo and conditioner combo that works really well for me and I don't see myself ever using anything else, so I'm most likely not even going to try any samples I get (unless they promise to help balance my scalp).
  • Hydro Nutritive Repairing Conditioner ($3.04 for 1.35 fl oz) - So a full-sized bottle of the shampoo costs $15, but the conditioner costs $16. Why not just make them the same price?
  • Laqa & Co. Lip Lube in Honeypot ($14.00 for .07 oz) - This is almost a full-sized product (full-sized is .1 oz), so that's nice. I actually do enjoy the Laqa & Co. Lip Lubes, but this is one of their sheer shades and it has basically no pigmentation. It works nice as a gloss, I guess, but I would prefer one with more color.
  • Jouer Tint in Petal ($9.43 for .03 oz) - This was my sample choice product and is also my favorite item in the box. It can be used on lips or cheeks and I'll probably use it as a cheek color. It is silky smooth and blends like a dream. I have used cheek creams in the past that didn't glide across the skin well, so you're left with a splotchy mess (note cute), but this one is fantastic.
Bottom Line: My Birchbox had an approximate total retail value of $32.87! The Laqa & Co. made up most of that value, but I'm still happy with that. Although I only will use about half of my box, I really like the Jouer tint and will get good use out of the Lip Lube, even if it isn't that pigmented.

What did you get in your Birchbox this month?

Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray Review

I have oily skin and issues with redness so I wear foundation every day. Primer is a necessity for me, and the new Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray helps keep my makeup in place while fighting excess oil.

*Disclaimer: This product was sent to See, Shop, Love! for review purposes.

I took these photos around Easter, so if you're wondering what's up with the candy eggs, that's the reason. I also thought the colors looked pretty with the bright green on the product's packaging!

The Skindinavia Oil Control Makeup Primer Spray acts as a silicone and moisture-free barrier between daily irritants and your foundation. It's been clinically shown to reduce pore size, diminish redness, and balance sebum production over four weeks of use. Users also noticed fewer breakouts. It helps your skin rebound from daily use of talcs and foundation.

I was excited to give this a try because it claims to fix all of the problems I have: acne, redness, and excessively oily skin! My skin started breaking out a month ago and I've had pimples on my forehead ever since. I'm not really sure why it's choosing to act up now (I never really had a problem with acne when I was a teen), but it's here and now I have to deal with it.

I've been using the primer spray every day for about two weeks. I love how easy it is to apply: just shake the bottle and spray across your face in T and X patterns. I needed three solid sprays to feel that it completely covered my face.

Unlike more traditional primers, since this one is a liquid spray it felt so light on my skin! I was worried that because of that it wouldn't keep my makeup in place, but I didn't need to stress about that. My makeup lasted a solid eight hours through my workday with this primer.

I can't say that I've noticed a reduction in my breakouts, but my skin is noticeably less red since I've started using this primer. I also haven't noticed much of a change with the oiliness, but I've all but given up on ever finding a product that will help with that. I also have only been using this for two weeks, so I am going to continue to use it to see if it has more of an effect on my sebum production after a longer period of use.
Bottom Line: If you're looking for an innovative, easy-to-use primer spray then I think the Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray is a great option! It held my foundation in place and felt light and refreshing on my skin.

One last note on Skindinavia's cruelty-free status, from their representative:

SKINDINAVIA sells a small amount of product to a distributor in Hong Kong, which is province not subject to the same regulations as China. SKINDINAVIA can confirm 100% that Hong Kong does no such animal testing. We do not sell directly to China, nor have any plans to. However, many of our competitors products are actually MADE in China.
