November Book of the Month Review and Coupon

I skipped the October Book of the Month so I was hoping to find a selection that I liked for November. Luckily there were some titles that caught my interest.

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love! Post contains referral links.

Book of the Month is one of my favorite book subscriptions. Your first mont his $9.99, and after that it's $14.99 per month for a new hardcover book. I have additional tax for the state of New York, bringing my monthly fee to around $16. That's still an excellent price for a brand new book.

Each month you'll be able to select one of five books that have been hand-selected by a panel of judges. If you don't see anything you like you can skip that month and your credit will carry over to the next month. You can also add on any books from past boxes for only $9.99 per book.

After 12 boxes, you'll become a member of the BFF Club and will get perks including a tote bag with a book slot, a free add-on during your birthday month, and a free copy of one of the finalists in the Book of the Year competition.

I usually go for anything that's a mystery or thriller, so The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell was an easy pick for me this month. Here's a synopsis:

Soon after her twenty-fifth birthday, Libby Jones returns home from work to find the letter she’s been waiting for her entire life. She rips it open with one driving thought: I am finally going to know who I am.

She soon learns not only the identity of her birth parents, but also that she is the sole inheritor of their abandoned mansion on the banks of the Thames in London’s fashionable Chelsea neighborhood, worth millions. Everything in Libby’s life is about to change. But what she can’t possibly know is that others have been waiting for this day as well—and she is on a collision course to meet them.

Twenty-five years ago, police were called to 16 Cheyne Walk with reports of a baby crying. When they arrived, they found a healthy ten-month-old happily cooing in her crib in the bedroom. Downstairs in the kitchen lay three dead bodies, all dressed in black, next to a hastily scrawled note. And the four other children reported to live at Cheyne Walk were gone.

In The Family Upstairs, the master of “bone-chilling suspense” (People) brings us the can’t-look-away story of three entangled families living in a house with the darkest of secrets.

I'm about three quarters of the way through the book and to be honest, it's a little less interesting and exciting than I was expecting. It's a decent read, but I've lost interest as I've gotten deeper into the book. Despite not yet knowing the ending, I think this will end up being a three out of five stars for me.
  • Visit Book of the Month to subscribe: first month is $9.99, no coupon needed
    • Use coupon code HIGHFIVE to get your first book for only $5
Bottom Line: Book of the Month is one of the best and most affordable ways to get a brand new book sent right to your door. Their selections are always top notch!

November Daily Goodie Box Review

If you like trying new products and giving your opinions, check out Daily Goodie Box! They send a completely free box of deluxe samples (and sometimes full-sized items) in exchange for a few sentences of feedback on the products inside.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Daily Goodie Box really is free. Boxes are sent based on availability and not guaranteed, but all you have to do in order to sign up is create an account on their website. You'll never have to enter any type of payment information.

The products in a Daily Goodie Box vary and can be anything from snacks to beauty products and more. There's always a good variety of brands and types of products represented. Keep reading to see what was in November's box.

  • Que Bella Peel Off Masks: There were three masks: Refining, Energizing, and Exfoliating. The Refining mask is a 2-in-1 with coffee scrub, Energizing is lime and mint gel, and the Exfoliating mask has pumpkin. I've used the Que Bella brand before and they're a great quality and affordable mask.
  • Frutati Hard Candy Assortment: This mix has Blueberry Yuzu, Pineapple Passionfruit, and Green Apple Mango candies. All of the tropical flavors tasted great!
  • WOLO WanderBar in Peanut Butter Protein: This bar has peanut butter and peanuts atop a crisp rice base. It had a good peanut flavor and was nice and filling due to the protein content.
  • Green Goo Peppermint Toothpaste: Green Goo is a great brand of skincare products, and their toothpaste is made with all-natural ingredients. It helps soothe gums, freshen breath, and reduce plaque.
  • Sir Kensington's Pizza Ranch: This dressing is dairy-free and infused with oregano and red pepper chili flakes. My brother loves using ranch with his pizza so I passed this along to him and he said it tasted really good with a hint of celery (appropriate, because there is celery seed in the ingredients list).
  • Hydralyte Electrolyte Solution: I'm going to save this for the next time I'm feeling really sick and dehydrated. I opened it and took one sip and it is very flavorful. It's designed to provide rapid rehydration with four times the electrolytes and 75 percent less sugar than leading sports drinks.
  • Teaonic MOJO Herbal Wellness Shots: I got the My Gut Mojo Digestion shot and it has ginger and aloe leaf juice to aid digestion and soothe upset stomachs. It also has cinnamon for added digestive support, hibiscus for anti-inflammatory benefits, and cranberry juice for overall immunity.
  • Susan Brown's Baby Sensitive Baby Diaper Therapy Cream: I don't have kids so I gave this to my brother and sister-in-law, who have a one year old. It's made with zinc oxide and oat, calendula, chamomile, and shea butter to moisturize. It's free from fragrance, petroleum, parabens, and oil and is not tested on animals.
Bottom Line: The November Daily Goodie Box had 10 total products from eight brands, and a few full-sized items. I always enjoy the variety of products that are sampled. My favorites this month were the Que Bella masks and Frutati candies.

Winter Walmart Beauty Box Review

The Walmart Beauty Box sends samples of products available at Walmart stores and online each season. Boxes are only $5 per quarter and have a variety of skincare and beauty inside!

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love!

I think the Walmart Beauty Box is comparable to the Target Beauty Box and is $2 cheaper (Target's is usually $7). Walmart advertises this box as free, but technically it costs $5 for shipping. Either way, $5 for a box of samples once a quarter is a fun and affordable way to try out new products.

I've noticed that a lot of the boxes have repeat products, but this Winter assortment was one of my most favorite yet. You'll get some foil packet samples, but there are usually at least one or two deluxe samples or full-sized products. Again, considering it's only $5, that's not too bad of a deal to me.

  • Earth to Skin Tea Time Black Tea Sheet Mask: I love sheet masks and Walmart has some great ones! This brand is new to me so I'm excited to try it. It has black tea, glycerin, and Mountain Flower extract to tighten, firm, and mattify skin.
  • Nivea Coconut and Monoi Oil Infused Body Lotion: This lotion has a lovely coconut scent and is infused with monoi oil to help moisturize skin for 24 hours. It has a silky formula and absorbed into my skin quickly.
  • Schick Intuition FAB Razor: This is a repeat product, but it's a good one. "FAB" stands for "forwards and backwards," meaning you can shave in both directions for a smoother and closer shave.
  • Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Strip to Scrub: This is an interesting take on pore strips. Instead of ripping it off and potentially stressing out skin, this one dissolves into a scrub that you wash away with the excess dirt and oil.
  • Sofia Vergara Lost in Paradise: This perfume was a little too floral for me. It has notes of Nashi pear, tropical gardenia, and golden woods. I liked the warm and fruity notes, but the gardenia was a bit too overpowering.
  • NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick: I got the shade "Cheekies," which is a light pink/peach nude. All of the shades in this line are nudes and have a semi-glossy sheen.
Bottom Line: The Walmart Beauty Box is always a nice surprise, and for only $5 I think it's a great deal. It's also nice that all of the products are available at Walmart stores and their website, so I can easily pick up full-sized versions of the ones I like.

November Gramma in a Box Review

The holiday season has started and for many, that means lots of baking and cooking! Gramma in a Box is a great subscription to share baked goods and treats with your loved ones.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Gramma in a Box was started by founder Terry as a way to share candy and cookie crafts with her grandchildren after they moved away. She turned it into a subscription box for anyone to share, and it's always a fun and creative box!

Here are the pricing options:
  • Monthly: $20 per month
  • Three Months: $55 every three months (save $5)
  • Six Months: $110 every six months (save $10)
  • 12 Months: $220 every 12 months (save $20)
Shipping is free to the U.S. and taxes are included. If you want to cancel, do so by the 25th of the month. You can also try one box for $20 without a renewing subscription.

Gramma in a Box is also having a Black Friday sale from November 28th to 30th. You can get a full year for $190, which is $50 in savings! This brings the cost of each box down to only $15 per month. Use coupon code BLACKFRIDAY on November 28-30th to claim this deal.

The November box had, of course, Thanksgiving-themed treats. Each month you'll receive all of the ingredients you'll need to create three projects with 15-20 individual treats each. The only items you'll need to supply are household basics like a bowl or spoon for mixing.

The first project was Turkey Buddies, and they came out so cute! They were made up of a Ritz cracker base with melted chocolate and candy eyes, sunflower seeds for the beaks, and candy corn for the feathers.

I love how cute these are! The Gramma in a Box crafts are always so creative (and delicious).

The second project was Harvest Bark and it involved using the remaining melted chocolate from the first project and mixing in cinnamon crunch cereal, peanuts (optional), candy corn, and sprinkles. It hardened in about five minutes and was full of sweetness.

The third project is always pre-baked cookies to decorate. The Fall Cookies were shaped like turkeys, pumpkins, acorns, and oak leaves with sprinkles and yellow, orange, and brown frosting. The cookies are a butter/sugar cookie that come sealed for freshness. It's recommended that you do the crafts within a week of receiving the box.

I had some leftover turkey eyes so I used them on them on the turkey cookies. These cookies are always so yummy and I love decorating them each month. These would be really fun to decorate with younger kids in the family.

  • Visit Gramma in a Box to subscribe - First box is $10, no coupon needed
    • Use coupon code 10off for $10 off a 6- or 3-month subscription!
    • Use coupon code BLACKFRIDAY on November 28-30th for a year for $190 ($15 per month)
  • Connect with them on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube

Bottom Line: Gramma in a Box is always a creative way to share delicious treats with your family and friends! The November box had a great theme, and I especially loved the Turkey Buddies.

October Shades Club Review and Coupon

Even though it's winter where I live now, sunglasses are still a must have. They're even more important if you live in an area with a lot of snow like I do, since the reflection of the sun can bounce back off the snow. Shades Club is a great way to keep your sunglasses collection fresh all year!

*Disclaimer: This box was purchased by See, Shop, Love! at a discounted rate in exchange for an honest review.

Shades Club has men's and women's subscriptions with free shipping and returns on every order. They have a 30-day return or exchange policy and a lifetime warranty on every pair of shades.

Here are their pricing options:
  • Monthly: $29 per month
  • Four Months: $112 every four months/$28 per month (one month free)
  • Six Months: $162 every six months/$27 per month (1.5 months free)
  • Yearly: $288 every 12 months/$24 per month (two months free)
Shipping is free to the U.S. with all subscription options. You can also buy individual pairs and accessories in the Shop.

Shades Club manufactures their sunglasses in the same factories as brands that sell at much higher prices. I've owned shades from some of the more expensive brands, and I can confidently say that the Shades Club pairs are just as great, if not better!

Each pair will come with a microfiber bag that doubles as a cleaning cloth.

The October women's shades are a kind of circular/aviator shape blend with an orange and pink gradient on the lenses and gold hardware. The arms of the shades are a tortoiseshell pattern.

I love the mirroring and gradient on the lenses; they both look so pretty! The frames are nice and sturdy, too. The shape of the lens is interesting, usually I go more for square or aviator shaped lenses, but these work pretty well with my face shape still.
Bottom Line: Shades Club is so fun! I love being surprised by what sunglasses they send each month. The fact that you can return or exchange within 30 days is also a great deal, just in case you get a pair that really doesn't work for you (though I doubt that'll happen!).

Tattoo Junkee Cosmetics Review

Tattoo Junkee creates quality pigmented cosmetics at drugstore prices for one-of-a-kind women with a rebellious spirit. They have lip kits, eyeshadows, and everything else you'll need for a complete look!

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Tattoo Junkee kindly sent me a variety of color cosmetics to review. Everything they make is cruelty-free (PETA certified) and packs a punch of color!

The Matte, Metallic, and Urban Jungle Mini Matte Lip Paint Kits are $12.99 each and have five mini lip paints inside. Each kit has rich, high-pigmented long-lasting lipsticks that are smudge proof. These really do stay put! I wore some of the shades for a full day and they barely moved. To be honest, I even had a bit of difficulty removing them at the end of the day (nothing too crazy, but it took a little more scrubbing with my makeup remover towel than usual).

The Matte Mini Lip Kit contains the following shades (left to right):
  • Vixen
  • Grunge
  • Rebel
  • Happy Hour
  • Sugar

The Metallic Mini Lip Kit contains:
  • Heartless
  • Spoiled
  • Royalty
  • Semi-Sweet
  • Famous

The Urban Jungle Mini Nudes Matte Lip Kit contains:
  • Jungle Boogie
  • Heirloom
  • Sugar
  • Barehug
  • Animal Instinct

Here are swatches of the Matte, Urban Jungle, and Metallic lip kits in color order of how they appear in the photos above. You can see from the swatches that they are intensely pigmented! The formula is really smooth and was easy to apply with the doe-foot applicator in each bottle.

Tattoo Junkee also has a line of tools, like the 2 Piece Eyeshadow Brush Set. The set is $7.99 and comes with two brushes for blending and smudging. The bristles are soft and pick up and spread powder shadows well.

My favorite products were the Barefoot and Bankroll Glitter Glosses ($6.99 each). They are super shimmery with a smooth formula that doesn't feel too sticky on the lips. They have a light berry scent and a sponge applicator tip (keep reading for swatches).

The Glo-Lite Strobe Highlighter is $3.99 and really packs a punch! If you're just looking for a little shimmer, I recommend using just a touch of this and adding on if you need more highlight. It's very pigmented and you can work up to the level of shine you desire.

Tattoo Junkee also has powder eyeshadows. The Space Dust Moonwalk and Life on Mars shadows ($5.99 each) are gorgeous! The shadow is sponge-y to the touch and is highly pigmented. These two shades have a slight glisten to them, too.

Swatched from left to right: Glo-Lite Strobe Highlighter, Moonwalk Space Dust eyeshadow, Life on Mars Space Dust eyeshadow, Barefoot Glitter Gloss, and Bankroll Glitter Gloss.
Bottom Line: All of the Tattoo Junkee products I tried were incredible quality! I love that they are so affordable, too. This line is made up of tons of cruelty-free cosmetics with pops of color that are perfect for any look!

November Spiral Rain Relaxation & Well Being Box Review

Spiral Rain is a Canadian online store that offers handmade natural, vegan products that are inspired by a love of the Earth and all its magic. They have two subscription box options, and I'm going to share their beautiful Relaxation and Well Being Box with you today.

*Disclaimer: This box was sent to See, Shop, Love! in exchange for an honest review.

Spiral Rain is a Canadian-owned family business that was created to celebrate love of the Earth and all it has to offer. They create unique items that re designed to overcome modern problems with old world recipes, new age metaphysics, and assertion of spirit.

All of the items you'll receive in their subscription boxes are handcrafted and designed in-house using natural ingredients and packaged with 100 percent recyclable or reusable materials. Each item is made with purposeful intentions, positive energy, and a passion for quality.

The Relaxation and Well Being Box contains bath and body and wellness products to help you relax and appreciate the positivity of the universe. I was interested in reviewing this box because Spiral Rain sounded like a fantastic company and I was really excited to see what their boxes featured.

The other subscription box offered by Spiral Rain is the Witch Box. Both boxes cost $39.99 CAD and shipping to the U.S. is an additional $25.91 CAD. The total to ship to me in NY came out to $65.90 CAD/$49.82 USD. You can do a one-time purchase of either box, or subscribe and receive the box at $37.19 CAD after the first three months.

The inside flap of the box had a sticker with "A little sparkle to align with the Universe" written on it, which I love. I like to take time to set my intentions and try to manifest peaceful positivity, and boxes like this are a great way to accomplish that.

The November box contained seven products total. The box came with a printed sheet with information about everything inside, as well as information about celestial events in the month of November (Full moons, new moons, etc).

The Protection Candle is absolutely gorgeous! I love candles and this one is great for protecting your physical and mental space. It's a soy wax candle scented with cedarwood and rosemary and contains amaranth and black tourmaline. Cedarwood is good for cleansing, purification, vitality, wisdom, and protection; rosemary is for cleansing, purification, vitality, wisdom, and protection; amaranth is for healing, summoning spirits, and healing broken hearts; and black tourmaline stones provide the ultimate form of protection by absorbing negativity and shielding your space from unwanted energy.

To use the candle, burn it in a room that could benefit from extra protection. Once the candle has burned down, the black tourmaline stones can be removed and placed around the home to create a protective shield.

The Protection Roll-On (left, pictured above) is a fragrance roll-on to pair with the Protection Candle. It's made with fractionated coconut oil with 100 percent pure essential oils of frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, and lavender with sage leaf. I love earthy scents and the combination in this perfume is so soothing and grounding.

The perfume is designed to bring you total protection for any situation or attacks you may come across. It protects against energy vampirism (something I've had to deal with often -- when someone drains your energy but doesn't help to replenish it) and any unwanted energies.

The Evil Eye Protection and Fatima Hand Keychain is beautifully-made and a great way to protect yourself on-the-go. It has an aqua glass evil eye protection bead and a silvery Fatima Hand on the bottom. There are also two smaller evil eye beads at the bottom for added protection.

The Evil Eye amulet can protect you from envy, fear, resentment, or other negative thoughts aimed your way.  The Hand of Fatima, or Hamsa Hand, has been used in Middle Eastern cultures for centuries and is associated with a female entity offering protection from evil and misfortune.

These two Seed-Bearing Lollipops from Amborella Organics are so unique! They're Rosemary Mint and Lavender Lemongrass flavored, and once you finish them you can plant the biodegradable stick to grow mint and lavender plants!

I love bar soaps, and the Dead Sea Mud Soap Bar by Naturally Vain is perfect for my skincare needs. It's made with Dead Sea Mud to cleanse and eliminate acne, dirt, and blemishes. It also softens and exfoliates skin and is highly moisturizing, biodegradable, and cruelty-free. This will be great for my oily skin.

Last up is the Jacklyn Black Bath Bomb by Naturally Vain, who unfortunately didn't fare well in transit! I don't blame Spiral Rain, as the bath bomb was well-packaged, but making the trip from Quebec to New York must've roughed it up a little.

Anyway, the bomb is supposed to be shaped like a jack-o-lantern and is scented with maple and pumpkin. It smells absolutely delicious! It has added rice bran oil to soothe skin. Rice represents rain, fertility, money, and protection. Oatmeal is used to invoke or worship Brighid (Irish goddess of Spring, fertility, healing, poetry, and smithcraft), and the pumpkin represents lunar magick.
Bottom Line: I am thoroughly impressed by the Spiral Rain Relaxation and Well-Being Box. The contents were well-curated and high quality, and I appreciated the extra information about everything and what the different ingredients and symbols represent. I think the U.S. price of around $50 for the box and shipping is fair, considering it ships from Canada and has great items inside. This box is right up my alley and I can't wait to use everything!
