Badger Balm Haul and $5 Off Coupon

Once every few months I like to re-stock my Badger Balm collection. They're my favorite skincare brand and I always like to have some of their balms handy.

*Disclaimer: Not a sponsored post.

There's a lot to love about Badger: they're Leaping Bunny certified as cruelty-free, they use USDA organic ingredients, and they're a Certified B Corporation (companies receive a certification from B Lab, a non-profit organization, signifying their excellence in accountability in business and for a commitment to bringing forth positive social change.

I love Badger for their continued commitment to making the world a better place, but also because their products are amazing! Their Original Badger Balm works better than anything I've ever used for dry, chapped skin. They also have lots of aromatherapy balms, lip balms, skincare, sunscreen, and more! They also have a line of men's products, including beard care.

I restocked on three balms: Sleep Balm, Sore Muscle Rub, and Original. They're all 2 ounces and range from $7.99 to $9.99.

My hands get so cracked in the wintertime. It's really painful and annoying, and other lotions just sit on top of my skin. The Original Badger Balm is my favorite product because it really sinks deep into skin to provide long-lasting moisture and relief. It's an olive oil base, so upon application it may feel different than a regular lotion you may be used to. But just give it a few seconds to absorb into your skin and I promise you'll notice how long it lasts! It also contains beeswax so it's not vegan, but the other ingredients are minimal (see photo below) and many are USDA organic.

One tin lasts me quite a while, maybe six months or more. For only $7.99 that's a great deal! It has a faint hint of wintergreen scent, but if you're looking for something completely unscented they also have a Sensitive Skin Balm.

The Sleep Balm is another favorite of mine. It has lavender and bergamot oils for a soothing scent. I like to rub a little bit on my temples and under my nose before going to bed. I've been doing nighttime meditation and the added aromatherapy really does help me relax and drift off to sleep! It's also great to use before a yoga practice.

I picked up the Sore Muscle Rub Cooling Blend for the first time during this haul. They also have a Cayenne and Ginger warming rub, which I've used before and enjoyed. I've been favoring a cooling sensation for neck pain and general soreness, so I was curious to try this. It has peppermint and eucalyptus oils for a cooling sensation that helps calm sore muscles. I applied this to my neck and shoulders and it provided a nice cooling feeling. Nothing too intense, but enough that I could feel it working.

I also ordered two new lip balms and Badger sent a free gift of Foot Balm! I believe they add a free gift with every order. You'll also get free shipping with orders of $25 or more.

The Peppermint Lip Balm is wonderful. It gives that tingly feeling that I love and sinks deep into lips to actually provide long-lasting moisture. The Chai Rose Lip Balm smells lovely and while it doesn't give a tingly feeling, it does soothe my lips just as well. These are only $2.99 each.

My free gift came in this adorable pillow pack! Badger also has some of their artwork available in posters. I have their Master of Space and Time poster hanging up in my apartment.

I would have been happy with whatever free gift they sent, but I was especially happy to get the Foot Balm! I've used it in the past and it's worked great.

This is the smaller .75 oz tin and it retails for $5.99. The Foot Balm has peppermint and tea tree oils to soothe tired feet. Both oils also have antibacterial properties. Organic extra virgin and jojoba oils also work to deeply moisturize dry, cracked heels. I love massaging this onto my feet after a bath or shower.
Bottom Line: I love Badger Balm! They have so many different products that you're sure to find something to suit your needs. I highly recommend checking out their website -- everything is very affordable and they offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more, plus your free gift with purchase! Badger Unscented Face Care Set Review

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you may already know that Badger is my favorite brand of all time!  They're a Leaping Bunny-certified cruelty-free company that is awesome for so many reasons.  Here are just a few: aside from being Leaping Bunny certified, they also use USDA organic and fair trade ingredients, are a B Corporation (more on that here), and they just overall seem like an amazing place to work.  I promise I am not just kissing butt here--this is a 100% not sponsored post, I just really love Badger!

Disclaimer: These products were purchased by See, Shop, Love!

All fangirling aside, I wanted to share with you my experiences with one of Badger's newer products: the Unscented Face Oil and Face Cleansing Oil.  I purchased these as part of a set for $25.99 because it was cheaper than buying them both individually (the Face Oil is $14.99 and the Cleansing Oil is $15.99).  Plus, every order over $25 on the Badger website ships for free and comes with an extra gift--this time it was a mini Badger Balm (pictured above, bottom center).

I had been wanting to try a cleansing oil for a while, and when Badger came out with their line of face care sets I knew I had to get them.  I decided on the Unscented line because they're made for sensitive skin.  My skin is oily but also sensitive to harsh products.  They also have Argan (all skin types), Seabuckthorn (normal to dry skin), and Damascus Rose (delicate/dry skin) oil sets.

The Face Oil is 1 fl oz and the Cleansing Oil is 2 fl oz.  All of Badger's face care oils are clinically tested to be non-comedogenic (they won't clog your pores) and hypoallergenic.  The Unscented set really is unscented, so you don't have to worry about any kind of fragrances irritating your skin.

I love that Badger uses minimal ingredients in all of their products, and that the ingredients they do use are natural and pure.  They are a company that truly is organic and natural!  The ingredients for those of these oils are similar, but the Face Oil has a few more oils in it than the Cleansing Oil.

I've been using these for two weeks and have been really enjoying them!  The instructions state to apply the Cleansing Oil on dry skin and massage it in using a circular motion.  I use two pumps and it's more than enough to cover my entire face.  Massaging it in is very calming, too; it's like having a mini facial every morning and night!  After applying it to the skin, you use a warm washcloth to steam open pores and gently remove oil, dirt, and makeup.  This really works well at removing my makeup, which was something I was a little bit concerned about.  I didn't need to worry, though, because it easily took off all of my foundation and everything else.

After removing the Cleansing Oil, it's time for the Face Oil to do work its magic.  I've used face oil moisturizers before so I was more familiar with how to apply this than I was with the Cleansing Oil.  Basically, dispense a pump or two (I use only one) onto the palms and then apply it onto the skin.  I like to rub it between my palms and then roll my palms over my face to apply it.  Definitely apply this while your skin is just a little bit damp still--if you apply it on completely dry skin it'll be harder to spread it evenly.  Plus, you should apply moisturizers on damp skin anyway to help with absorption.

Bottom Line: I am loving the Unscented Face Care Set and am so glad I purchased it!  Although it may sound counterintuitive to use face oils on oily skin, they actually work really well to balance sebum production because "like dissolves like."  I will have to keep using these for a longer period of time to see if they reduce the oil on my skin, but so far I'm pleased with their performance.  My skin feels clean and hydrated after use, and I have peace of mind knowing that I'm using a truly natural, cruelty-free product from an amazing company!

Badger Seabuckthorn Hair Oil Review

A little over a month ago I did an introductory post for Badger's new hair oils, and I mistakenly wrote that I was going to try it out for a week before writing a review.  I went back and re-read the information that I had been sent, though, and realized that they wanted me to use it for a month before writing up my review, since it's recommended that the oils be used once a week.  So I did, and here goes the review!

I'm familiar with hair oils, but it wasn't something I used until recently (when argan oil became such a fad).  I still don't use them on a regular basis, but when I was sent a sample of Badger's new hair oils to try I jumped at the chance because I love all things W.S. Badger Co (and I've professed my love on multiple occasions here on this blog)!  I received a 1 fl. oz sample of their Seabuckthorn Apricot & Pomegranate Antioxidant Hair Oil, which is suitable for all hair types.  It contains 10 ingredients total, nine of which are USDA certified organic:

I've used this a total of four times since I received it.  The first time I put it in before bed and left it in overnight, the other three I put it in an hour before showering.  I didn't notice much of a difference between letting it set for an hour or overnight.  If my hair could talk, it would probably say "I hate you.  Why are you so mean to me?" because I heat style it almost every day (blowdrying and straightening).  I like the idea of using this hair oil because it penetrates deeply to moisturize really well.  I have an oily scalp, though, so I didn't apply it close to my roots.

One thing that I really love about Badger is that they're Leaping Bunny certified as cruelty-free; you can see the Leaping Bunny logo in the photo above.  This means that they've passed the highest standards of cruelty-free certification, which is something that's very important to me.

But back to the review -- like I said, I used this product for a month and I was pleased with the results.  I applied it, let it set, then washed it out using my regular shampoo and conditioner as instructed.  Some nights I let my hair dry, others I used a blowdryer.  The night that I left this in overnight was a night that I let my hair air dry, and when I woke up I noticed that it felt much softer than normal.  I also applied a little bit too much because I wasn't sure how much I needed at first, which caused my hair to be weighed down a bit.  But no matter, because most importantly I could tell that this was a hair oil that worked.

My hair felt much softer than it usually does after I used this hair oil, and I plan on continuing to use it for quite a while.  My sample size was 1 fl. oz, but a full-sized bottle will cost you only $18.99 and is twice the size (2 fl. oz).  I have a lot of hair, so I use two full pumps, but I still think that a 2 fl oz bottle would last you for months.

Bottom Line: Badger's Seabuckthorn Apricot & Pomegranate Antioxidant Hair Oil is yet another Badger product for me to love.  I am a bit biased because they're one of my favorite brands EVER, but I still think that anyone who gave this hair oil a try would love it!

Badger Balm Hair Oils...and More!

Surprise!  I opened my door today and found a package from the W.S. Badger Company (more commonly known as Badger Balm) containing a sample of one of their new hair oils.  I received the Seabuckthorn Hair Oil and I'm really excited to try it out.  I'm a huge fan of Badger products, so I'm sure that this is going to be an excellent oil.

They recommend that I try this oil for a week, so I don't have a review yet, but I wanted to write up this post as an intro to the new oils.  In the meantime, I highly suggest getting your hands on any of Badger Balm's products!  These are the ones I've tried and recommend:

  • Cool Mint and Sweet Orange Cocoa Butter Lip Balms - These are the best lip balms I've ever used.  They both smelled fantastic and hydrate very well for a long time, and they also feel really smooth on my lips.
  • Badger Balm - The original balm is fantastic for skin.  I use it on my dry elbows and ankles and it works wonders.
  • Foot Balm - I hate having cracked, calloused feet, but it's kind of unavoidable for me.  This balm has peppermint in it and I put it on my feet before bed.
  • Cuticle Care - This is the most recent product I've tried; I picked it up on a whim because I polish my nails way too often (which means lots of polish remover), and I have noticed a marked improvement on my cuticles.
  • Sore Muscle Rub - I bought this because I seem to always have a kink in my neck!  I also have lower back issues because I fractured my tailbone when I was younger.  I like this as a muscle soother because it doesn't have that strong, offensive smell that other store brands have.
  • Headache Soother - My boyfriend bought this for me because I get headaches at work sometimes (thanks, noisy printers and staring at a computer screen all day!).  It has a nice cooling sensation and I love putting it on my temples.
  • Stress Soother - This is the first balm I ever bought and it's my #1 favorite.  I love the scent (Tangerine & Rosemary) and I use it when I need some peace.
  • Cheerful Mind Balm - This is another great aromatherapy balm, which smells like Sweet Orange & Spearmint.
  • Sleep Balm - This stuff really works!  I was skeptical at first, but I rub a little underneath my nose before bed and it helps clear my mind so I can drift off to sleep.
  • Lemongrass & Ginger Soap - This soap is great for morning showers because it's got a peppy, citrus scent and it helps me wake up before work.

I think that's it...I hope I'm not leaving anything out!  As you can tell, I really am quite the Badger fan.  Not only are they great because of their high-quality products, but they're also USDA organic and Leaping Bunny certified!  Check out their website to browse their full line of products, and check back in a week or so to see my review on their Seabuckthorn Hair Oil.

Badger Soap Review and Giveaway! [CLOSED]

I have expressed my love for W.S. Badger Co. (aka: Badger Balm) many a time, and have used most of their products.  One that I hadn't tried was their new soaps, so I contacted them to see if they would be interested in sponsoring a product for review.  But first, some quick background info: they are certified USDA organic, Leaping Bunny certified as cruelty-free, and just all-around amazing!

One simple thing that I really love about Badger is their cute mascot.  They have badgers in all sorts of scenes on their products -- you can view (and read about) some of their balms and lip balms at my previous post here.  The soap I received to review is the Lemongrass and Ginger Botanical Body Soap, which is handcrafted with organic shea butter and extra virgin olive oil.

As you can see from the photo above, Badger Soaps are "true soaps."  They are only made of saponified organic oils, butters, and beeswax.  Many Badger products contain extra virgin olive oil, which may sound odd, but it works great to produce a rich lather, along with shea butter and castor oil.  Shea butter and castor oil provide moisturizing power, and essential oils of lemongrass and ginger refresh and revitalize.  Badger's products are all about tapping into your soul and creating feelings of rejuvenation.  One of my favorite Badger Balms is the Stress Soother, because the aromatherapy really does wonders to ease my tension.

But back to the soap!  I really enjoy using this bar.  It has a light scent, and I can definitely pick up on the lemongrass essential oils.  It's very fresh smelling.  I used this on my hands with no sponge or washcloth, and it created a nice lather.  My skin was not left feeling waxy or over dried, the way I often feel with soaps that aren't made from natural ingredients.  I think this would work well with a washcloth, etc., as well.

Badger Soaps come in a variety of other scents: Moroccan Mint, Rose Geranium, Unscented, Mailette Lavender, and Chamomile & Calendula.  Badger offers plenty of products beyond soaps, as well.  I highly recommend their balms and cocoa butter lip balms.  They even have sunscreen and bug repellents, all of which are made from natural ingredients!
  • Learn more about W.S. Badger Co. and view their entire inventory at their website
  • Connect with them on Facebook and Twitter
Bottom Line: I can't gush about Badger enough, I really can't.  I think it's safe to say that they are my absolute favorite natural skincare company.  Their prices are incredibly reasonable, and they often run specials and coupons throughout the year.  The Lemongrass & Ginger Badger Soap is lovely, with a light scent and good lather.  They retail for $6, I high recommend picking one up!

Here is the best news: the folks at Badger were kind enough to supply an extra bar for one of my readers to win!  Use the Rafflecopter form after the "Read More" to enter.

Badger Balm Review

This review is for one of my all-time favorite organic companies, WS Badger Company, or as they're more popularly known as, Badger Balm. Their slogan is "Powerfully Pure Body Care," which is so true.
Badger sells a ton of products, from soaps to lip balms to sunscreen...basically any kind of body care product you could ever need. Even bug spray! Their most famous products are their balms, which I absolutely love.

Badger Balms are oil-based, so they are a little different than what most people have probably tried. But they're very potent; a little goes a long way. The tins that I own are the Stress Soother, Original Balm, and the Cheerful Mind balm (not shown above), as well as the Sweet Orange Cocoa Butter Lip Balm (more about that one later).

Certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the main ingredient in the balms. These products are not vegan, however; they do contain beeswax. The scents are added using a variety of ingredients. The Stress Soother has a tangerine and rosemary scent, while the Cheerful Mind is made up of lemon and sweet orange. I actually bought the Cheerful Mind and Sweet Orange lip balms in a gift set.

Here are what the balms look like inside. You can tell from the shine that they're olive oil based. That may sound odd, but it doesn't smell like cooking oil at all. The balms may feel overly greasy to some, so I don't recommend them for people who already have well-moisturized skin. But my hands get really chapped, especially my knuckles, and these work wonders for extra dry skin. They're perfect for the wintertime. The original balm, "For Hardworking Hands," is especially good for calloused skin. The other two also can be used for aromatherapy. I like to rub the stress soother one on my temples when I need to relax.

The Cocoa Butter Lip Balm is divine. I love orange chocolate, and this smells so delicious that I want to eat it! The stick is also really hefty, so like the balms, it lasts a long time. I've had all of these products for months and I've barely put a dent in any of them. The Cocoa Butter Lip Balms come in a variety of different scents.

Bottom Line: WS Badger Co. is a fantastic skin care line with organic (but not vegan) products. They are very affordable (each balm costs around $7) and they last a very long time.

Even Better: Badger announced on their Facebook page today that they are holding a Thanksgiving sale with free shipping very soon! It's the perfect opportunity to try them out!
